Yeah, that Parabola clip there is kinda nice. Rubbed one out, twice, to it.

Hey Tool: More like that please.

Couldn't be arsed trying to work out how to embed a video on my phone but yeh, link above. Absolute gem of a find from a club show in 92 with cracking audio /visual.

45 minutes well spent if you've got the time. Hellboy might even appreciate swamp song at least a little bit after this

That show has been around for a while - it's an interesting watch. Had no impact of my dislike of Swamp Song.

Not true. I happen to know that not only does Hellboy have a soul, he actually has two.

Don't be fooled by his charms..., the Hellboy I know kicks over kids sandcastles, goes to the shopping mall at Christmas proclaiming that Santa is a myth & punches puppies for fun.

Dem feels when ya stumble across a show you attended 15 years ago. Pretty decent audio bootleg from their Sydney show in 2002.

Never been a massive Triad fan but remember it being shit hot on the night with the melvins drummer on percussion and memory served well. Sounds great

i have already posted this before, as besides the Hartford concert this is probably the holy grail of the tool concert videos i have seen
i honestly dont have a fucking clue what happened here, as it is a festival video, in europe
but what is in this 70 minutes, is something special even with tool standards wich is very hard to beleive when you consider the settings
every member is equally in its most focused, purest form, the setlist is perfect and tight, but there is something more to it, kind of hard to describe it, but it is palpable from the very first second

its almost like even the members themselves feel it even more than when they created this album
first its sound seems like a very low quality recording, but the mixing of the actual concert, the drums and the bass especially, are much much alive than in the studio album, its fucking otherwordly
there is something about the vibe, something about the sun going during the transition to reflection, and all four members, especially maynard
its magical, almost diabolical sometimes, and fucking tight through every second
best lateralus era live concert i've ever seen to this date

That is a great one! The guy who filmed it also filmed another festival from the same year, Maynard in blue paint IIRC. He uploaded a video of him filming his TV while the VHS tape was rolling and Tool playing Sober. Daylight afternoon, Rock Im Ring Germany 2002.

Two things I wish:

1. The source above to be released in its full potential, i.e a first gen of the VHS tape or digital transfer.
2. The second festival that was filmed up close from the floor to be released in public circulation, the footage is no where to be found anymore.

I can only imagine being able to see the guys faces in broad daylight, Maynard especially with his movement during that era.

I could have swore i used to watch a higher quality version of the 2002 Rock Am Ring performance. But maybe it was the same one posted here and i just have a terrible memory.

I would also really like to know more about the other 2002 festival you speak of ettan....

What exactly is MJK doing during Ticks & Leeches? Is he on his knees singing into something to get that voice effect? or is he on his knees singing because well..... he keeps singing "suck me dry" ...

Around then I reckon he was playing with some vocal effects/techniques he'd got from Mike Patton when they toured with Tomahawk

Back in 2001 - 2002 when they played Ticks he always sang it like that, not sure why because it looks like it's the same equipment he used during Eulogy and on that one he walked around like normal. Most likely it's what HB's on about, some sort of effect triggered while sitting.

He's sitting like that on these two as well, though you don't see him at all on these videos:

If I recall correctly, he used the megaphone into the pickup of his Steinberger guitar to achieve that effect.

Man, the days when Tool (or any band) would tour places like Canberra and Wollongong. Now we're just happy when bands play more than just Sydney and Melbourne.

Dem was the days. Newcastle used to get a look in to. What happened? Fuel and venue hire costs im guessing ?? I mean if album sales are declining and touring is the new bread and butter why wouldn't this still be a thing?

I dunno what it is. Maybe they just don't like longer tours. If I were in a band, personally I'd relish playing some smaller towns and venues, provided we weren't losing a packet of money.
