Maynard James Keenan
Re: Maynard James Keenan
I found it a pretty positive interview - not sure why anyone would be alarmed?

Re: Maynard James Keenan
sorry slightly misleading...was commenting on the comment before my post. Was a positive interview. It's hard to build on something that doesn't feel right anymore."
Just saying after listening to that particular interview it showed that the band is still within the guy...

Re: Maynard James Keenan
What in the hell are you talking about. 'The band is still within this guy'. Holy fuck...
Tool hasn't released a new album in 10 years, but continue to produce 'Maynard is holier than thou', frontman fucking fanboys. My god

I like how a harmless observation that barely qualifies as a compliment really rustled your jimmies.trilobite wrote:What in the hell are you talking about. 'The band is still within this guy'. Holy fuck...

This conversation is so pointless. Just continually making assumptions lol.
Tool will release a new album. Maynard will sing on said album.
Tool will tour the new album with Maynard.
No one can be sure of anything else; regarding if 'he still has the band in him' etc....
Just wait for the new album and enjoy it when it when it's released.

Trilobite is suffering from major butt hurt. The band is deep within him.

Sweet, Laura Milligan moderating SF. That will be great, she is hilarious. Looks likes these events will all have different vibes each night with the variety of the moderators.

Re: Maynard James Keenan
Also want to remind people that this tour (for the San Francisco date at least, and I assume for the other shows as well) that a copy of the book is included with the ticket. I cancelled my pre-order when I got my ticket, so others might want to do the same if they weren't aware of that.
Re: Maynard James Keenan
My panties have been waaay up in a bunch for a while now. Really should change them I suppose.
Everyone deserves a chance to get up in this band, & to be hopeful about what's to come. I apologize for any misplaced dickheadery.

Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough review of the book HB. I'll be at his reading tomorrow night, and look forward to getting a copy of the book in my hands.hellboy wrote:I've posted a review of Maynard's book on the blog if anyone's interested:

Re: Maynard James Keenan
Good review HB, my copy arrived the other day and I have been chipping away at the book, I generally don't get a lot of time to sit and read. That being said I have enjoyed what I have read so far and agree with you about the differences growing up here vs the US. By the sounds of it this was never meant to be the big rock star bio, but rather an illustration of his work ethic, creativity and drive, evidenced all throughout his life, maybe as an answer to those who a few years ago were blaming him for the lack of a new TOOL album.hellboy wrote:I've posted a review of Maynard's book on the blog if anyone's interested:

In any case I am enjoying the book. Cheers....
Be good to each other.

And May Jay did say in an interview recently that he'd prefer to go more into Tool stuff in a book worked on by all 4 (5?) of them.
Hey! Denty!
Re: Maynard James Keenan
Yep, I hope that happens. I feel like there is a lot more to be told, not just Tool but also APC and to a lesser extent Puscifer. The book is about Maynard the man, not Maynard the rockstar, which is something people need to bear in mind when reading.Ravenpig wrote: And May Jay did say in an interview recently that he'd prefer to go more into Tool stuff in a book worked on by all 4 (5?) of them.

Generic triangle avatar lives on.
Re: Maynard James Keenan
I was at the L.A. event tonight and can confirm the above. The response to the question definitely suggested that new music is being worked on, although no clear indication that the upcoming tour announcement would be in support of a new album. I think it's quite possible though.
As for the event itself, Billy Howerdel co-moderated with Dino(?), and over-all it felt like a friendly conversation between the three of them...perhaps a bit more measured and cautious with an audience present, but genuine none the less.
I'd tempered my expectations on what to expect from the event tonight, based on a few comments I'd read about earlier shows, so perhaps I went in a bit more ground...but I thought it was worth the price of admission (book included).
I was also expecting occasional outbursts from the audience, but everyone was quite respectful...with one exception. A guy stood up in the audience mid-Q&A, seemingly unaware of the pre-selected question process, tried to ask/yell his own question, and was met with boos and threats from the audience and stage. A bit uncomfortable.

All I know is, all this APC talk has me thoroughly soaked in the britches region.
Then again this is the Tool forum & fuck me I've mis-posted yet again...
Wait. Where are we?

Reviving this long dormant thread... Watching the Philly '92 concert for the thousandth time. God, wish we could get even half of the MJK from that show on the new album and tour.
