GoW definitely going onto the list. About to embark on a PS4 spree, cheap games!. What other games you recommend for PS4?

Heard great things about these - Last of Us, Uncharted 4 & Shadow of the Colossus
All three of those are outstanding, although I recommend playing the previous Uncharted games first. At least 2 and 3, the first one you can definitely skip. Horizon Zero Dawn was also really good.

Ok cheers. Is Star Field what was originally coined Star Citizen? Definitely one to check out. Could be a masterpiece or a huge flop!

Also checked out Surviving Mars that Hellboy suggested, looks great although still priced quite high. Is it just a sci fi building game?

Sorry to laugh but no, Scam Citizen is its own thing entirely.

It's a pretty cool game, probably one for fans of the genre. $35 doesn't sound all that expensive to me, but I think would be a good pickup in a sale.

I've started playing Destiny 2 on the PC the other day. Too soon to know whether it's any good or not. Seems like a run of the mill FPS so far with a half hearted attempted to add randomised weapons. Not convinced it's better than Borderlands just yet, but need to get deeper into the story.

By story I'm referring more to the general game progression - unlocking all the features, etc. as seems to be how modern games work these days.

Still playing Oblivion, I'm getting frame rate drops even on the Xbox One X, I'm guessing it's not a hardware problem

It's probably the hardware.

Have you updated your graphics card?

I've been playing Fallout New Vegas for the past few weeks and just finished it up. It might be my favorite of the 4 Bethesda games last gen (even though it's not technically Bethesda) but man this game is practically falling apart near the end. Even after 8 years and mods I was still having some major problems. Though, in fairness, to Obsidian, they only had 18 months to develop the thing.

The game has so many complex threads that need to somehow pull together - it's no surprise there are a few compromises in quality towards the end. I'd love Obsidian to to another Fallout.

They should negotiate with Bethesda to do a more traditional 2D turn based RPG using the Pillars of Eternity engine.

The credits said "based on Fallout 3" which must have been annoying for the guys who worked on the original games.

Probably not - I suspect the "based on Fallout 3" was more about the tech than the Fallout universe.

Probably.

I was reading that they originally wanted to New Vegas to take place between 2 and 3 and function as a direct continuation of the events of 1 and 2, but Bethesda shot that down. I wonder why?

It would have been cool if they kept it going with Obsidian doing West Coast games and Bethesda doing the east coast stuff.

Also how I have played this game 3 times and have never known that there's a companion you can recruit that's voiced by Danny Trejo?

GOG summer sale is going on.

I picked up Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines and Redemption for $6.50 and got Sunless Seas as a free bonus.

I've been meaning to check out Bloodlines for awhile. I don't know anything about Redemption but it was only $1.50 so whatever. Sunless Seas is also one I've been curious about but I've never checked so that's a nice surprise.

Both really good games. I spent quite a bit of time with Sunless Seas about a year back - it's a pretty compelling game one you understand how the systems work.

Bloodlines is on of the best RPGs around - make sure you get it patched, including the various community patches.

I just finished Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines and if you're going to play it I strongly recommend using God Mode. That's all I have to say right now.

I almost bought Shadowrun Returns in the GOG summer sale but I'm glad I didn't because I just got it for free through a Humble sale.
