As both, and any YOB fan, should!!!

I saw them this March and it was a most amazing show!

They played with Witch Mountain, Ides of Gemini and MARS at a small club in New Orleans, Louisiana.
WOW!
Preceding bands were pretty damn good.
YOB took the stage and delivered a mesmerizing set!
These 3 guys will encapsulate you with their sound and musical art- if you'll let them.
Their musicianship was, and is, tight and harshly glorious, poetic across the board of music. They hammer the ground, sail to clouds, slam you in the side of
the strongest mountain then melt you down the slope they've pounded before; and you feel you've taken the journey with them many times & years before.

Go see YOB if you are able!
One of the best shows of my life!

Absolutely loved them live, including the vocals. They really are incredible. Don't remember the specific songs, but we got plenty of Clearing The Path. Will see them again for sure.

New album coming mid year:

http://label.relapse.com/yob-complete-n ... e-records/
Oregon based cosmic trio YOB has completed recording their highly anticipated 8th full-length album and long-awaited follow-up to the critically acclaimed Clearing The Path To Ascend. The album will contain six tracks co-produced by the band and recorded with engineer Billy Barnett at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, OR, with mastering handled by Heba Kadry (The Mars Volta, Diamanda Galas, Slowdive). The album has already appeared on the Most Anticipated Albums of 2018 list by numerous publications including Decibel Magazine and Stereogum.

The new album is set for a summer release via Relapse Records, whom YOB have officially signed to following a series of reissues with the label. Frontman Mike Scheidt commented on the new material and signing:

“I have many, many albums in my collection that have been released by Relapse, and I’ve been a fan of their releases for nearly 30 years. We’re honored and excited to release our new album with Relapse. We can’t wait to get back at it and share this new music with our friends worldwide!”

Additionally, YOB recently reissued their fifth full-length album, The Great Cessation, in December via Relapse. That album can be streamed via all digital retail outlets HERE and ordered via Relapse.com HERE.

YOB has also announced a brief run of dates in 2018, including appearances at Modified Ghost Festival in Vancouver and Sabertooth Festival in Portland. A complete listing of dates can be found below.

New album dropping June 8th.

Funny because I've been listening to a bit of Yob lately for the first time in a while.

Pretty cool:

https://www.revolvermag.com/premium-vid ... w%E2%80%9D
Revolver's "No Distortion" series invites heavy music artists to ditch their amps, pare down their songs, and showcase their intimate side. In this episode, Mike Scheidt, singer, guitarist and principal songwriter for sludge-doom act YOB, welcomes us onto his father's tree farm just outside of Eugene, Oregon, where he delivers a stripped-down, transcendent reinterpretation of their epic song "Marrow," from 2014's album Clearing the Path to Ascend.

So my one-listen review is that while I thought it was an enjoyable album, it's probably notch or two below Clearing the Path to Ascend. I did enjoy the variety of having a bunch of shorter songs, over the monolithic four tracks of the last one, though it never quite reached the heights that those tracks do.

Certainly worth further listens though.

Our Raw Heart is a really good album. Not as good as Clearing or Atma on first listen, but more varied than anything they have released previously. It makes sense in the context of what Mike has been thru with his recent health issues. I think it might be their heaviest album to date. I am gonna hold off on a score for the time being. There is a lot to digest here. Bottom line buy the album it's good. Yob is far and away the best Doom metal band on the planet.

@ Mog: “Buy”?! What is this word you made up?

I am taking this on a long hike today. Really looking forward to hearing it for the first time it, especially after these comments. They were excellent live, and I’m not a Cookie Monster vox fan at all, as many of you know.

They are playing at the same venue in Oakland soon. I will hopefully be there again.

I agree - I think the variety is the best part of the album. Just that Clearing and Atma have some killer riffs that it doesn't really come close enough to emulating. When you write a 10+ plus doom song, you better be sure your cornerstone riff is strong as fuck.

- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

I survived. Ended up hiking with a friend, so didn’t get to listen as carefully as I wanted to. First pass was mixed for me. Some really excellent parts. The title track is strong.
