Ok seems to sum up this project. I find nothing offensive about the tracks so far, nor do they really fill me with any level of excitement.

Sounds like Faith No More (sans Patton) could be doing some shows with Chuck Mosely, presumably to celebrate the reissue (and anniversaries) of Introduce Yourself and We Care Alot:

Further info on above - looks like it's a couple of shows Chuck Mosely & 'Friends' (I imagine using Faith No More might have some legal/record label implications they'd like to avoid):

Insightful interview with Billy Gould regarding the We Care A Lot re-release and other FNM related topics:

Mike Patton joins "supergroup" Dead Cross:
Now, his newest high-profile collaboration has been announced: also a supergroup, but catered toward metal and hardcore fans rather than indie and alt-rock devotees. Dead Cross is a supergroup featuring former Slayer drummer and co-founder Dave Lombardo (also of Fantomas, the Misfits and Suicidal Tendencies), Justin Pearson (of the Locust and Retox), and Michael Crain (also of Retox, and Festival of Dead Deer).

The band has been around since last year, but according to a press release, Patton has just come on board as lead singer, replacing former vocalist Gabe Serbian (The Locust, Cattle Decapitation, Holy Molar). He is working with the band on a new album, to be released next year on Patton’s own independent label Ipecac Recordings.

Chino is an amateur at that game compared to Patton

Looking forward to this. I really like The Locust. Patton would be perfect for this combo....

So an update of sorts from Patton while he was in Australia recently:
  • Fantomas are unlikely to do anything soon
  • Duane Denison is currently writing for a new Tomahawk album
  • No immediate FNM plans but anything could happen

Yeah, a little more vanilla than I'd have liked, but will wait and see how the rest of the album pans out.

Ah ok, they must have taken it down. Will see if someone was smart enough to grab it and put it on Youtube...

Update: The answer is yes!

Another track from the Dead Cross album. It's better than the last one, but I'm finding Patton's vocals, especially in the first half as waaaaay to high in the mix. I thought the second half of the track was pretty good. Overall, not sure that the style of music really suits Patton's vocals.

The obvious comparison here is the Dillinger Escape Plan EP Patton guested on. That EP worked really well because he mixed up the vocal styles a bit, this time it seems a lot more vanilla

I think this will be an ok album, but I don't have super high hopes at this point in time.

Patton just sounds too old at this point to be doing this kind of thing effectively.

Beginning to sound a lot different from the sound I had in my head when I first heard of this project.

Another Dead Cross track here. A bit more "meh it's ok" to me. Sounds like the album will be enjoyable, but not a real stand out.
