"You should have bought more tickets and travelled across state and country borders if you wanted the good show."

Yea, and if the the setlist works one night, it works every night barring some operational issues causing delay.
I know the pieces fit, I studied the numbers in Southern France.

So after watching a video it appears this visual effect was during the Synth/Vocoder part.

Before i heard it live it was easy to dismiss Sober as one of the "skip it!" songs, but holy shit nothing could've prepared me for finally hearing that iconic beast performed in the present day. Unreal.

Wouldn't want it every night, but there's no denying it lights up the fucking arena something fierce when they do play it.

Was definitely a highlight in 2012 but I'd take a deeper cut off of Opiate/Undertow any day. Those singles have really been worn out for me. Goes for all of the albums to be honest.

That's a great list nxrm. I'm at show #4 and am just happy that I've seen something from every album.

Damn Nx you saw sweat? Nice one.

Sober is a beast live but can't say I love the delay effect Justin used last time i saw it. His bass tone is by far my favourite of any other bass player out there but the delay on sober took away some of the power a little I thought.

If they play sober, ill still love it of course, but just be good to see an undertow song I haven't seen is all.

After 10 shows, All I've seen off undertow & opiate are

Sober
4 degrees
Swamp song
Flood
Opiate

So some deeper cuts would be most welcome.

Thanks! I do wish I'd gone to earlier shows. I had the opportunity to see them in 1993 (Lollapalooza) and another show right after Aenima was released, but made the unfortunate decision not to go. I also only caught one show during the Lateralus tour, but with the release of 10,000 Days I wanted to make sure to catch as many shows as possible going forward. Life just gets in the way sometimes. Still very lucky and thankful I've been able to catch as many as I have.

It's always nice when they add a deep cut. :D

That was at the Glen Helen show in 2017. Looking back, that was one of the most epic shows (post Lateralus) they put on.

Trying to think what I've seen from Undertow + Opiate. Off the top of my head...

Sober
Intolerance (best one I've heard so far, back in 2010. Fucking jaw dropping especially with the extended version)
Flood
Opiate
Sweat

This was the night I saw Sweat. It was fucking incredible, especially with the video effect doing the "hall of mirrors" thing on the band/stage during "seems like I've been here before." Nice ironic touch.

@busty, I really really really hate the term deep cuts.
Har har

Have seen :
Sober
Prison Sex
Swamp Song
Intolerance

Live from Undertow. Flood would be the only addition I really really really like.

And Opiate as the oldest song. Aside of maybe Sweat no interest in the other songs.

Well now that I know that you really x 3 don't like the term deep cuts, I'll be sure to utilise the word as much as possible my friend. I'll also be sure to mention that I have seen Flood twice coz I am a jerk like that :P

Flood is the first song I ever saw TOOL play live... back in the 2002 Lateralus tour days, they would occasionally open shows with Flood and go straight into The Grudge. It was a pretty intense 10 to 15 minute opening of a show :)

Holy smokes! Between you and Kittaan...I have a lot of catching up to do.

As an aside, that third San Diego show that went on sale this morning doesn't seem to be much in demand. Watch them pull out an off the wall epic show that night. :D

Miscalculation on the part of the promoter to try and sell so many of the best seats as Platinum right outta the gate. I got outta the waiting room at 10:01am and literally every seat on the floor and most of the decent seats in the stands were already Platinum pricing.

Wow. Just wow.

And also a bit curious. Do you go to lots of other gigs besides?

The Mohegan Sun show was killer! A few of my friends all from different vantage points agreed “Best show yet”. All these guys have seen them 8+ times so. The wife and I had Floor sec. 2 row 5 through VIP :D and I had the aisle seat! For me This show and my second show 9/22/01 are 1A and 1B.

Again it was PNEUMA the stole the night but the end of Invincible had an amazing intensity to it. Right after that little pause it was on!

Being so close I had a better view of their little “face off” with the crowd right after 46&2. The lights came on Danny stood up and the 4 of them just stood there starring at the crowd for what seemed like 2 min but it was probably more like 30 sec!

Overall amazing experience! Being at a casino didn’t hurt either. Oh ya we got DESCENDING TOO!!!

Great show last night in AC.....and it almost didnt happen. Before stinkfist, Maynard said something along the lines of "heres something you all dont know, tonights show almost got cancelled. Justin has had severe food poisoning for the last 24 hours with foul liquids coming out of every hole in his body. I sprained my calf muscle about 2 hours ago and I cant fuckin walk.....but the show must go on, right?" Big thanks to the band for pulling off what was certainly a difficult 2 hours on stage.
