Still using gifs in 2014. Hopefully webm will start really picking up real soon. It's vastly superior in every single way.

Still "FALLOUT 3". It's been my thing now every night. I try to get about two hours in. I feel like I go explore, then it's time to get ready for bed. I love it!

Thanks again for the recommendation, fellow game enthusiasts!

Been putting some more hours into Dwarf Fortress. Really interesting game for those that can get past the complexity of the interface, as well as an understanding of how to run a fortress for dwarves.

Two nights trying to find the Museum of Technology. Can't fucking find it, and keep getting forced into subways - which, in turn, don't throw up any way to get there.

And yes, I use the maps, markers, icons, whatever. I know what I'm doing.

Don't claim to be an open world game, and force players to go to a specific place via a specific way. That's just dumb.

"NEW VEGAS" did it once on a side mission; and I only just allowed it.

Bullshit. It's almost ruined the game for me.

The Subway section is the low point of the series, that is for sure. Thankfully it's much better when you're past it.

The subways aren't the only way to get anywhere, but they're the quickest. I remember having a lot of trouble with the subways the first time I played the game, but when I started playing it again recently I thought they were a piece of cake.

Also there are like a dozen or so Super Mutants waiting outside the Museum of Technology when you get there so be prepared for that.

It just doesn't make any sense. I've been down four different subway entrances, and have followed the directions as best as I could - and they put me nowhere near.

I'll try one more time tonight, then I'll go back to "SKYRIM".

I remember looking at the map a lot and making sure the exit I'm going through is the right one.

Does the quest info or your notes tell you what subway stations you need to go through?

I don't think so. I'll have another look tonight.

I had a run around online to see if I could get some tips, and apparently many other people have had this same problem. Makes me feel a bit less stupid, I guess.

I didn't find it that hard. Just tedious because the level design was quite boring.

I remembered it being long the first time, but that wasn't really true the last time. I think there's only really like two subway areas you need to go through to get where you're going.

The Museum of Technology can be a pretty tough spot though. I only had like 1/4 of my health when I went though it last time. That was a challenge. I think I only died like once.

So after some research and learning that building a PC isn't that hard this is what I'm looking at:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC 2GB Video Card
Intel Core i5 4590 Quad Core LGA 1150 3.3GHz CPU Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H LGA 1150 Motherboard
Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Desktop Memory KVR1333D3N9/8G
Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB Barracuda Desktop HDD 3.5” 7200RPM SATA3 Hard Drive
Sandisk X110 128GB 2.5" SATA III SSD SD6SB1M-128G-1022I
Seasonic M12 II 620W Power Supply
Corsair Carbide Series 400R Mid-Tower Case
Creative Sound Blaster Z Sound Card
LG 16x Internal SATA Retail Blu-Ray Burner Drive BH16NS40

Suggestions? Am I missing anything? Will this last me a while?

It's expensive but muh, time to get a hobby.

My recommendations:

Don't go cheap on the SSD. I have no idea what the Sandisk is like, but I hear Intel do excellent ones. Don't use OCZ. I wouldn't be against getting 256GB either if the budget goes that far.

Not sure what you're planning on doing with the soundcard, but the motherboard has a decent build in audio setup on it. My opinion is that forking out for the Sound Blaster is most likely a waste of money unless you're either an audiophile, planning to record/produce music or have the appropriate speaker setup to take advantage of it.

Thanks, yeah I didn't realise the motherboard comes with a decent built in audio setup, I was just looking for the best of the best.

I'll leave it out and if unsatisfied I can always buy it later.

Looks like a tight set-up, brother. I agree with Helltoy on this one, too - go large on the SSD.

I'll be looking at this in three months if things work out, so let me know how you go.

What are you looking at here? $1,500? If you're getting it specifically for games, would you consider a Steambox?

The problem with your situation is that you couldn't really get the games you'd want off the net. So a Steambox would largely be useless.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I would expect getting the net hooked up would be an obvious priority for anyone gaming on a PC these days.

Spent another Saturday playing Darksiders, I'd still be playing it if the new tv was delivered already.

This current one is fine for 2 or 3 hours then I get a 4 inch thick black line through the middle of the screen, have to turn off the tv for 10 minutes and then it's good for half an hour, rinse and repeat.

Doesn't happen watching tv either.

What he said.

I mean I could get wireless wifi but there is no cost benefit, better just paying Telstra the $300 or what ever it was, oh and the fucking the technician will be there between 8am and 7pm Tuesday bs :x
