MOG'S PICKS
Re: MOG'S PICKS
For my third pick this week I am going with French post-metal masters Dirge. I present their latest album Hyperion

Pick number four this week comes from Liverpool's Doom metal kings Conan. Their latest, Blood Eagle, is a masterwork in the Doom genre. I have recommended this one before, but I am going to recommend it again, because IT IS THAT FUCKING GOOD. Enjoy

Moggie, this is kind of hard to absorb all in one thread... couldn't you have, you know, split each pick into its own individual thread?

How in the holy shit can any "fan" claim that Mogwai should've hung it up at any point?! It's insane. Rave Tapes is fucking amazing.
Re: MOG'S PICKS
For my fifth and final pick of the week, I am going with something a bit different. Some Indie Folk from Mark Kozelek's solo project Sun Kil Moon. I present to you his latest album Benji

Re: MOG'S PICKS
Hey Mog. On your recommendation I tried the Sun Kil Moon. I tried, but It does nothing for me. Don't like the vocals in general and especially the sameness of the singsongy delivery and tortured lyrics. Just wanted to get back to you, and thanks for the rec regardless.

That Conan stuff was awesome.

Re: MOG'S PICKS
Week number three begins now. All good shit all the time. As always please purchase the album and support the artist. I try to embed from Bandcamp whenever possible since the artist allows you to listen before purchasing. With the youtube links, I try to stick with tracks the artist or label uploaded themselves. Unfortunately that is not always possible. With youtube being so publicly accessible, I feel fairly comfortable posting a link to an album considering that the artist/label can have it brought down at any time. The point here is to promote quality bands making quality music. I include direct links to amazon to purchase the album, which helps Hellboy since the traffic originates from this site, and obviously of course, the artist, as they need to get paid for their work. Please don't just go back to youtube for repeat listens. If you dig it, buy it. Support good music. Enjoy.
Fuck Buttons - Slow Focus
Genre defying electronic excellence. Don't bother trying to classify this album, just go along for the ride.

Year of No Light - Tocsin
Post-Metal/Post-Rock with a sprinkle of doom. The tracks are expansive and atmospheric but not in an overly meandering way.

Ben Frost - A U R O R A
Ambient masterclass shit from Ben Frost. Album has only been out for a few weeks so there is no full upload on the youtubez. Still, two great songs up. Album is absolutely worth purchasing.

Jon Hopkins - Immunity
Hopkins blends ambient with more traditional house/trance/techno and it just works. When I listen to this album what strikes me is how deftly he blends multiple genres together. The end result is an album that is both subtle and smart.

Bossk - .1
Hailing from England, Bossk is a relatively unknown band that has managed to quietly craft one of the best Post-Metal albums of all time in .1. Unfortunately the first track is cut a bit short, goes on for another minute.

I know what you mean Joey. I need some sort of a bookmark system for this site. Now someone can tell me it has one if they like.
