The Slack channel is slowly building momentum, with Mog, Liz, Pete, UKE, Lacryomolgist as well as Zimmer and MobileVortex occasionally putting in appearances

Well, I'm on the cusp of calling Slack dead, since no one uses it any more.

Any objections? Perhaps we should look at a different platform (Dischord or something).

Anyone have any suggestions or interest in community based activities other than just forum chat?

Discord might be an interesting idea. I think it won't really matter honestly until we get more regulars around. I imagine when the new Tool album drops you will get an influx of new and returning members. Won't be particularly interesting for me since i don't care about the new Tool album and I am sure that will be the topic of conversation most of the time. Regardless I would give it a go if schedule allows.

Not in the mood to debate this one. Don't have the energy for it. Would love to chat with most of you on Slack or something similar but don't care to take part in Tool focused discussions.

Actually we rarely talk about Tool currently, though no doubt there would be some chat closer to album release. Is talking about Tool really that offensive though?

Re: Dischord & Slack - they are more or less the same thing really, though Dischord is probably a little easier for newbies to join. Slack has a more business approach so the need to invite people to get access is a small barrier.

No debate required mate. Either you'll love or hate the album in which case you will no doubt have something to say about it

Kinda, not much music of chat happening at this time. I'm pretty much the only resident

I'm happy to give it a go, but I don't see Discord being more successful than Slack. And I agree with mChat - that was more an experiment.

Anyone else have opinions?

I would be happy to set up a Discord server and set the permissions I have plenty of experience with Discord. It would allow for fast communication and easy pms just creates an easy environment for people to communicate just grab your phone no logging in no browser. People could game together and post borderline inappropriate memes other random nonsense. Even let the crazies in from reddit...maybe...

Setting it up isn't a problem - my concern is more that the Slack channel never really got used. Discord is pretty similar. Why would that work when Slack failed? Do others (apart from the two of us) actually want to us it?

Discord is a chat client, popularised by gamers which was originally pretty similar to Slack. The two have diverged a bit, one being gamer focused and the other more business oriented. Both do largely the same thing, Discord at this time is somewhat easier for newbies to join, but I find the interface is not quite as nice as Slack.

Both can be access via your browser, or a desktop or phone app.
