I've been watching Iron Fist, and despite it seemingly getting some pretty poor reviews online, I've enjoyed it. It's not a masterpiece by any stretch, but not quite sure it deserves the criticism it's getting.

Disagree. Weak story and the lead is terrible (he’s awful in The Defenders too).

His “brother” however is by far the best thing about that show.

Yeah, that actor was an odd choice.... He doesn't even look like me.

I didn't feel like the story was any weaker than the others.

At the moment I'm watching The Walking Dead season 8. First two episodes were all over the place.

I didn’t even see what the big deal about season 1 was. Was a chore to finish and I am not gonna see season two.

I liked 1 but 2 is such a weird season. I don't feel like my understanding of the universe deepened at all. I feel like the whole season exists just to put the pieces in place for season 3. It felt like the 1st or 2nd episode of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer where the main thread is just like a monster of the week deal, but with movements around the side towards establishing the main threat of the season. I feel like if I skipped this season I would not have that much trouble picking back up in season 3. I've never encountered a season of a t.v. show that felt so disposable. It's weird.

I watched the heavy metal themed horror-comedy Deathgasm which was better than I expected, and was actually very funny.

Wife & I saw Thor : Ragarnork. Haven't seen any other movies and aren't particularly fussed on the marvel world but gave it a go due to a lack of alternative options. Ended up being great fun to watch. Having the kiwi fella responsible for boy creating it was a stellar choice. Plenty of laughs throughout the whole movie

Thor Ragnarok is good but it was way too jokey, seriously it bordered on action comedy. If they’re not gonna take the danger they’re in seriously then why should the viewer? Hela was fucking bad ass though. Wouldn’t mind if she’s the Death that movie Thanos is obsessed with.

I saw so many ads for it and I still forgot it was out. It’s probably a a Redbox rental for me.

I'm not into any of the mythology of Thor or much Marvel / DC stuff to much so the humour is what made the movie so enjoyable for me. I love what Nolan did with Batman but the ongoing attempts to replicate it's dark grit (DC is especially guilty of this) bore me. Thor was a breath of fresh air for me.

How can it be a breath of fresh air when the last few Marvel MCU movies (except for Civil War) have had extra gobs of humor injected into them?

I haven't seen the movie, but certainly looks like a change of pace from the previous Thor movies. Humour looks more in the GOTG style, rather than the typical Marvel humour (which isn't really a new thing)

Considering you have an avatar of wolverine I'm guessing our interest in comic books and their film adapations are slightly differed. I'm just a casual observer and havent seen every single marvel movie released so can only go off what I know. And from comic movies I have seen Thor was just a great watch that had me laughing start to finish. You said yourself it was to Jokey for your liking so that in itself tells me it was very different to its predecessors.

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 this evening with my daughter. Even though I enjoyed the movie, it felt quite a bit short of the first one. 7/10.

I watched Alien 3 and Resurrection as I haven't seen them before and they're not as bad as people made them out to be. They're both far more interesting than a lot of what passes for good movies nowadays, though they do have their problems.

It's funny though, I remember seeing people say that Resurrection butchered Whedon's script, but like the elements of it that seemed the most Whedon-esque were the worst parts imo. Whedon's writing is very stylized in a way that doesn't really fit the established tone of the Aliens films.

Alien 3 is pretty good in my opinion. Resurrection is ok, but has a quite different feel to the other 3 - almost seems more like a comic book adaption rather than the more gritty prequels.

I watched Big Mouth on Netflix and I thought it was pretty good. It was funny and the characters were well-realized, but the more I think about it the more I feel I feel it was a bit scattered.

Phew...been binge watching past seasons/episodes of Black Mirror. Entertaining series for the most part. Looking forward to checking out this new season that was recently released.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.
