I watched the Korean action flick The Man From Nowhere today which was pretty, pretty, pretty good.

The Devil's Candy was pretty good too. A little different from what I was expecting, but in a good way.

Finished watching 'George Harrison Living In The Material World' last night (2011 documentary directed by Martin Scorsese). Not really a Beatles fan, but just something I watched in pieces over the last few days. Some interviews/commentaries were a bit long winded and could have been trimmed or cut altogether, but otherwise it was an interesting watch.

Miss Hokusai - based on the Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Hinako Sugiura, telling the story of Katsushika Ōi who worked in the shadow of her father Hokusai. Great animation and a good story.

Raw - 2016 French-Belgian horror/drama written and directed by Julia Ducournau.

Netflix has all the Cube movies now, so I watched all the Cube movies. 1 and 2 are ok, both have strong premises and ideas but weak writing and acting. 3 is actually surprisingly pretty good, it takes itself less seriously and is more fun as a result.

I watched 1922, the latest Stephen King adaptation, and it was surprisingly better than I expected. It takes a little bit to get going, but once it gets going it starts becoming something else.

Actually it's the fifth because of The Mist tv show. And the third time Thomas Jane's been in a King adaptation. Stevie must have his kids or something.

Took a chance on Population Zero and it was not worth it. Not overtly bad, but not particularly notable. I don't get why they made it. It's a mockumentary about a crime that outside of one small twist is not anymore interesting than any other true crime drama, but is considerably less believable. It never justifies it's existence, like there's no good reason to watch this instead of a real documentary.

This movie really bugged me. It had one idea, this theory about an area of Yellowstone where you could potentially get away with murder, which could make for a decent premise for a movie like this if they followed the case as it was happening. Instead the movie takes after the whole thing and is about trying to find out why he did it. And it's not interesting because the guy is like a super genius who like manipulated everything which is a very movie concept and is not interesting at all, but it's especially not interesting because who gives a shit why a fake person committed a fake crime?

The killer murdered 3 teenagers because one of their fathers owns a fracking company that may have been responsible for the death of the killer's family which the movie comes kind of close to saying justifies their murder, which is insane because the victims had literally nothing to do with this guys family. The link between the one dude's father and the other killer is also pretty tenuous. So the movie is also an anti-fracking mockumentary, but like it can't even land those hits because the deaths of the killers family could be easily explained by non fracking causes. His one daughter dies because of a fire started in the kitchen sink (which admittedly would be probably be caused by tracking) but like his wife gets cancer, and his son is born with birth defects both of which are just as likely a case of bad luck as they are caused by fracking. In the sons case his mom literally died of cancer while pregnant with him. He was born prematurely, like I'm pretty sure that baby would have problems even in the purest of environment.

And none of this shit was done well at all. The killer wasn't interesting, the interesting part of the crime was inconsequential to most of what happened, and the anti-fracking shit was shallow and poorly implemented. And none of it has any weight because it's all fake. Like why did I waste my time with this shit? I could have watched an actual true crime documentary or an anti-fracking documentary in the same amount of time, both of which would probably be more interesting and would definitely have more to say than this piece of shit.
