Any word of the "UNDERTOW" re-release? That was a thing at one point, right?

Or did I dream it in the wettest of wet dreams?

Who knows. It's well past it's 20th (and 21st for that matter) anniversary. I don't remember it ever being mentioned by the band, just assumed by the fans.

Wasn't Buzzo's wife working on something that hinted at an undertow re-release?

I could've sworn it was more than a pipe-dream.

I remember her saying she was working on something, but I don't recall her saying what it was.

They can't do an undertow re-release because they would like to put golden tickets in it and they haven't taken care of the opiate tickets yet haha

Mm. Sylvia Massey was talking a bit of Tool not too long ago and publishing info/pics from Undertow days on her site.

I also took this on the way to Kazbegi last month... coincidence?

Yes, I do remember Sylvia talking Undertow up recently, which made me think something was on the horizon. Nothing tangible ever came out though, and here we are - wallets full and ready to spend you Tool aren't taking advantage of it.

Not content with being the laziest band in the world, they're also the laziest cash grabbers going around as well.

Apparently the video is in "the producer's hands" now.

Here is the part in that Reddit post related to Opiate.

Like the new album the video cannot be rushed? Good God! I thought it was supposed to be released before this past Christmas. It seems that blockbuster movies with massive budgets, many actors, FX crews, etc. take far less time to complete than a video to a song from 1992 that will most likely be all CGI. Whatever, I'm looking forward to having a professionally recorded version of the new Opiate. I'm just not convinced it'll ever see the light of day.

Those guys!! Those guys!!!

Six years into writing / arranging and STILL "no songs are completed with lyrics....but errrr.....like, we can't rush things now can we?!?!"

They haven't ever rushed things in the past, so why would the start now?

Because time is running out.

I'm pretty sure the entire city of Dubai was built in less time.

Pretty sure.

I was even on board with a 2016 release. At this point, I'd be surprised if they hit the studio this year(If it is true that no music has Maynard on it yet, which I'm not sure I believe).

Yes. I'm going to my friend's house. He's making waffles.

My condolences.

At this point I'd be surprised if they hit the studio before every superhero that Marvel ever created has his/her own trilogy.

Here ya go Cal... Never forget.
Calfium Jay on metallicabb.com wrote:Who cares if you like/dislike the older material. This thread is specifically about a future Tool release. And I'm not so sure that a 2014 release is "optimistic". At this stage I'd be surprised if not shocked if it didn't come out by June 2014. If history is anything to go by, Maynard always comes in at the end of the writing process. The fact that he has come out and revealed he is working on the new material is indication enough. I believe they will start recording in November if not before.
----------------------------------
Agreed. At this point it's almost a given that the new album will come out by at least the middle of 2014.
----------------------------------
Maynard has been in "full Tool mode since the beginning of August". The ball is definitely rolling. Studio time can't be more than two or three months away......
----------------------------------
BTW in case nobody here has heard (on the grapevine) I'll be the first to spill the beans; The Mexican gig in March will coincide with....wait for it......an UNDERTOW reissue with new artwork by Mackie Osborne and a figurine from the Sober video packaged in a box - container. Yep...you heard it right here. No joke.
And i think this is the thread you are looking for http://fourtheye.net/f/viewtopic.php?f= ... start=4270

It's hard to stand out in a group of Metallica fanbois, so Califum has to resort to being a Tool fan.

Obviously a LOT as changed in the last three or so years so I'm not exactly sure as to why you keep dragging this up - as if you have an axe to grind with me for some unknown reason.

Best you go get a life.
