Thanks for posting that. A lot of the same ideas/themes he's been talking about the last few years, but still interesting.

Wonder if he thinks that's his dad on his shirt? Apparently there was a video clip of "the boy" playing drums but it must have been taken down as I have not been able to find it. Someone on Reddit mentioned hearing some new samples on the pads.

More photos of The Loft/instruments lately. I don't make hay out of such things but I know there are plenty here that do so... poof! There ya go. They're still going into the loft and touching instruments/amps.

There was, it wasn't really taken down per se - the nature of Instagram stories is that they only stay online for 24 hours I think.

Maybe they were new samples, maybe not. They were pretty innocuous though and gave no real insight into how one of their songs might sound.

I'm pretty sure they were literally just the sounds his son was making when he was hitting the drums.

Nah, there were some samples from one of the Mandala pads. As I said it was nothing insightful though, and while I couldn't link the samples to any particular Tool song, I expect there are many "sounds" that kit could make I wouldn't immediately identify.

Maynard was wrong. His contribution doesn't matter. Three members of tool will hopefully work on their music & release something wonderful

A great album doesn't need vocals. Certainly not forced, rehashed bullshit like the last couple albums we've had.

TLDR, catch the end, his contribution to Lateralus was superfluous & the number only meant anything to the musicians

Dickhead could do better.. Still trying to play it all off as a joke. Side-step any responsibility. Watching Maynard backtrack his own lyrics is uncomfortable to say the least

Not how I took that discussion at all. Not sure how you could but... that's the beauty of perception.

Also, "I could do better" is the main take away there, and he's just trying to be humble in the face of someone basically standing in, and stating their awe at something he's done. He has never been comfortable with this things. No hay to be made here.

I think you're being overly harsh on Maynard. My take on what he's saying is that it's not supposed to have some deep spiritual meaning like some Tool fans make it out to be. It's just some words about stuff.

Tool will be in France next summer. I would imagine this would tie into a small European tour. Seems like an expensive trip for a single festival show.

I bet they play the other big festivals as well, Rock Ann rin, the big one in Poland, etc. if they play primavera it would be a good reason the spend a week in Barcelona.
