Cool idea. I don't think it's entirely necessary, but I see what you're saying.
How about a compromise: "AOTW1 - Titus Andronicus: The Monitor".
That way both AOTW have a designated number.
Ergo, Tyson and I will be something like "AOTW2 - MY BALLS: Rocking Crotches".

Well, I listened all the way through some horrendous shit you posted. You can at least do me the same courtesy. And as a fellow bass player, you have to at least acknowledge that rhythm section is outstanding. As I remember, you liked Volto! This is a damn site better on many levels, and I would be surprised if DC didn't agree.
But honestly, if you don't like it, that's fine with me. Just sounded like you dismissed it.
I listened to over 3/4 of it. Instrumental virtuosity alone isn't enough to get me to want to listen to this more than once. I do like Volto! but in all honesty I can't say I've listened to that album more and 3-4 times.
General comments on the concept of AOTW, getting your "feelings hurt" if somebody doesn't like your pick, etc....
Nobody should have to "try" to like music... you either like it or you don't, usually on a visceral level. Repeated listening might affect your perception, but usually preconceived opinions color things one way or another and win out.
Whatever anyone's opinion, I am content in the fact that I love this record and it has brought me a lot of enjoyment listening to it over the years. Hopefully someone who hasn't yet heard it will dig it. That's what all my AOTW picks have been and will always be. I see no point in pandering.
That dude is a master on the violin no doubt and all the other players weren't too bad either but this is not a pick I would listen to on a regular basis. Not really into this kinda stuff but still enjoyed going through it once.
Finally heard this, it's not bad. No stand out track but none sucked either. Not a great review by me but the album failed to inspire either a bad or good review of it.

Ha! Yeah, "who ordered the pizza?" section definitely. I love it.

Really? How much of this type of music were you listening to in 1977? What, you weren't yet born?! Ah, I see... I'll take your opinion very seriously then.

You have to have been born in the era that something comes out in order to know and appreciate it?
There goes my entire blues and jazz collection! Silly me!
Weren't you the one who went on a rant about leaving the ego out of AOTW? Sounds to me like someone is butthurt.
Specifically referring to your comment about nothing you haven't heard before. This was quite innovative for '77 and likely influenced the shit you think sounds like it. That's all. Talk about getting butt hurt. Niger please.
And no that wasn't me about the ego. Not as far as I remember anyway.

@ Crow - I forgot to reply to this - checked on my phone, but I was at a concert.
I see where you're going with the massive quote above, but that was not my point on the pandering thing. The point was: don't choose your pick based on what you think people will like. Which I definitely didn't - as you guys are always bagging on Fusion. As I've told Tyson, I hate sappy Fusion too. This pick is not that.
And my comment didn't come from "getting my feelings hurt" it came from a legitimate questioning of your statement about "nothing you hadn't heard before". (And it's a valid point if you're being honest with yourself). I don't expect to change your mind, but I will question your argument if it doesn't make sense to me.
Bottom line - I may not agree with you, but I will always respect a well supported argument. That's severely lacking around here (and most internet discussion).
