Re: Failure

looks like a couple of those dates are with Jane's Addiction, which as long as they stick to old material would be interesting to see as well.

Re: Musicians of Fourtheye

I already posted this in the bandcamp thread (shameless plug!) but I have a ukulele shoegaze project that I am currently working on writing and recording a second album for; first album came out this June and you can check it out here

Re: What are you listening to?

War on Drugs is great and so is the new album, although it gets a little to Americana sounding in the middle of the album. First half and the last song are the best of the album

Deafheaven - Pyramid Scheme Oct 1- 2014

Drove up an hour and a half from Indiana to Grand Rapids MI to attend - Sunbather was one of my favorite albums of 2013, although I hadn't actually heard it or listened to it until January of this year - regardless to say though i was quite excited for this show, as this was the first chance to have...

Re: Bandcamp Fourtheye Collection

On an unrelated note, if you want some other people's shoegaze/fuzz rock, check out Pity Sex, they're from Michigan and kinda cool - seen them live a few times when I go up to Michigan to visit people etc http://pitysex.bandcamp.com you can get their debut LP on Spotify (feast of love) Weird that I...

B&E (acoustic) - Nothing https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3B_8c5dDIeE&list=UUewVn74tl8yDQdjHxn-xbLg Interesting music video. Unsettling. Yeah, definitely intruiging. Not sure how I feel about the acoustic version though This is the song I have stuck in my head at the moment https://www.youtube...

Re: What are you listening to?

Perhaps. and it has been a long while since I gave them a chance. I guess to me, I just remember their music seeming really simple, very "UMPH" and "manly/bro" sounding, but I should listen to them again also on a "what I am listening to" related to note; Subrosa - The ...

hellboy wrote:Not sure bro-metal is a term I'd use. I can't say I've heard them singing about chugging beer, popped collars or yelling "Yo!" lots.
Lyrically they aren't; i'm just saying it "sounds" like bro-metal, musically

Re: What are you listening to?

Ya know, I haven't really ever been able to get into Mastodon. I know that they are this, but whenever I've listened to any of their music (which to be fair, has been from earlier albums such as Blood Mountain and Leviathan), it just sounds like dumb, meat-head, bro-metal. I release that from everyt...

Re: Bandcamp Fourtheye Collection

If anyone is interested, I made a bandcamp page for a shoegaze(ish) album that I recorded a few months ago, using a distorted acoutsic/electric ukeulele (and some acoustic/eletric guitar on a few songs). Check it out if anyone is interested in shoegaze/psychedlic/indie rock kinda stuff (at the very ...

Re: The Grudge (WARNING: Meh... why bother?)

They can't stand their fans. That's odd - I thought everyone just went for pedestal fans now. And if not, just stand them on a desk or something. A small coffeetable at home also does the trick. Also, I was thinking that, in order to hurry up the new TOOL album, we should launch a charity drive for...

Re: Random Music News

I don't see Clutch being anywhere near as formulaic as AC/DC. Granted, they have a signature sound. And definitely a higher level of musicianship in Clutch... as well as creativity and groove. Definitely some of Clutch's more recent stuff has seemed formulaic, particulary Blast, Robot Hive, and Fro...

Going to see Deafheaven on October 1st in Grand Rapids, - was a huge fan of Sunbather, and the videos I have seen of them performing are quite intruiging.

Re: New Acoustic Holography Speaker Technology - Core

I really don't care how good it sounds, if it comes with functionality for somebody's phone, I'm honestly not interested. I'm looking for a speaker that is good for listening to music - if I want to use speakerphone, than I'll use the speakerphone function that has come with cell phones for the last...

Re: Random Music News

I do enjoy AC/DCs attitude. They haven't given a fuck what the critics think for 30 years. They suffer from memory loss everytime they hit the studio. "Now what the fuck did out last album sound like?" They stick to their guns and their fans dig it. I can respect that. In some ways, parti...

Re: What are you listening to?

Would? - Opeth [BBvideo 560,340]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TefH4QuCVqA[/BBvideo] This was a surprise. It's a great cover. Ha! That's a really interesting take - turns the grungy vibe of the original into something more 'spookier' sounding. Better than anything Opeth has done in the last two alb...

Re: Pink Floyd

I was really excited for this album, until I found out that it was almost all instrumental. Oh well. Even their best work, with expansive instrumental portions, such as Echoes or Shine On You Crazy Diamond, are good because they find a way to combine expansive instrumental jams with vocal melody
