AOTW: Death In June - The World That Summer

DEATH IN JUNE - THE WORLD THAT SUMMER (1986) OK, so I'm going back in time a bit for this one. Way back to the year 1986 - when the world was a strange and ungodly place and where the likes of Molly Ringwald couldn't shop for breakfast cereal without getting mobbed. Ahem....yeah so this week the di...

Re: Classic Album Of The Week: The Police - Synchronicity

I think it has one of the few Police songs that i could ever tolerate, "Wrapped Around Your Finger".

Never really liked or disliked the band. Their singles were ok but the non single album tracks were often bizarrely sub par IMO.

I'll give it a 5.3/10

Re: Album of the Week - Earthless - From The Ages

Eh. As far as "stoner, jam" bands go...I prefer Acid Mothers Temple.

I give it a 6 (just) out of 10.

The kind of music I might listen to on a humid, summer's evening while on a long drive in the country.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I believe lyrics+music are coming close to the final stages. They could get it all finalized and recorded by summer...... As in the dark as we are about it, I'd say this is the most likely current scenario. Lyrics are being written as each section is finalised and handed over. Hopefully they get to...

Re: What are you listening to?

KFAD is easily my least favorite Faith No More album, behind even Album of the Year......it was a major step back into being a more generic "eclectic" album. Instead of really saying anything bold, it was more like a boring mix tape of styles with the familiar mike patton voice and roddy ...

I'll be happy with an Undertow reissue in March, a "curveball" release in June and a new album in October.

That newsletter didn't sound very promising.

Maynard is "writing" or so it is to be presumed...but the others are all - yup - off on holiday again.

Looks like I can forget about celebrating a new release in November 2014.

Tool has jumped the shark. Puscifer? Blah. Volto!? Vintering, fishing-trips, babies, marriage? Blech. Whatever dudes, stop dicking around and putting off the tunes. Bunch of lazy-ass, candy-ass, over-the-hill, creatively-tapped out hipsters. I disagree with the hipster part. I'll bet ya NONE of the...

Ten things you may not know about Maynard James Keenan: 10. As a child he learnt the accordion 9. He was born in a row boat just off the coast of Newfoundland 8. Talking of why the band haven't toured in six years he said that they didn't want to move to the stage until they had new material in order to avoid becoming, musically stagnant. "As an artist you don't want to become a greatest hits version of yourself, either," he said. "You want t...
