Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Nah I'm too curious as to what variations they are making bewteen shows, regardless of where they are playing. I'm expecting the standard Fear Inoculum tour setlist in Perth tonight but I'm still hoping 7empest gets played at some point; they have played it in soundcheck a few times now. Very excite...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Danny said 12 minutes in his thank you speech; not even the drummer for the song itself knows how long that track is... All good though. So TOOL have now won Best Metal Performance three times (Aenema 1998, Schism 2002 and 7empest 2020) and trail only Metallica in this category (6 wins: https://en.w...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Yeah BUT we didn't help them or directly inspire them to write/create the song 7empest. Thanking your family, Joe Barresi and acknowledging drummers like Jon Bonham and Neil Peart makes sense if Danny's talking. He did thank people for voting and Justin did encourage others to just keep making aweso...

CreedFanFromWayBack can easily become CreedFanAndNickelback though.

Re: Anyone except Maynard ever sang on a Tool album/song?
Fair call. It was more banter than bullying but I understand... perhaps he/she/they can earn it back by posting a pic of them at either a recent gig or an upcoming one. You know, prove they really are a fan from way back? I think I have a ticket stub from 2002 but I know there are many here with TOO...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Weakest songs? Have you ever tried playing along to it? Try keeping track of just the drumming. I'd love to see them pull off 7empest live. Justin Chancellor has described it as "epic" and Adam Jones says its his favourite track on the album. RATM drummer Brad Wilk heard an early version o...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Or, how about the whole album in its entirety - only? No old songs at all. . I don't mind if we never see Culling Voices live. It sounds nice and I don't mind it but not at the expense of something like Jambi... which is fucking brilliant live these days. I think FI, Pneuma, Invincible, Descending ...

Re: Anyone except Maynard ever sang on a Tool album/song?
Justin actually sounded good doing You Lied back in 2011 down under here; it was a nice surprise on that tour. I think JC (Justin Chancellor, not the big fella Jesus Christ) might be needed for backing vocals live right at the end of 7empest as Maynard cannot sing his lyrics the way he's written the...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I think they should either do Descending AND one of The Pot/Part Of Me/Intolerance on one night and 7empest on the other night. If you get say Descending and one of those 3 older songs it pretty much adds up to 15 mins or so. Fear Inoculum, Pneuma and Invincible should be live show staples on this t...

Re: The Grudge (WARNING: 26 years to #6?)
So if I'm going to BOTH Sydney shows here in February and they don't play 7empest at either one, do I have any right to complain? That would kinda suck... especially if they played it two nights later up in Brisbane and we never saw it/heard it

Re: 2019 Fall Tour Posters
I think the San Jose and night 2 in San Diego are my favourite ones thus far. I love this concept of letting different artists do a different poster for each show. It's really cool. And the signed ones with different colours for each band member's signature is a nice little touch. I love that signed...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
CC Trip is actually kinda underwhelming, especially after a 12 minute intermission. I'd love it the band just replaced it with a shorter song somehow. I love Danny Carey as a drummer but he's doing his own thing for like 10 minutes and it just feels flat... the show loses momentum

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Man jerk off is an absolute beast of a song that I adore. I bought salival on said holiday and saw them live the month before, so part of me was getting a special lashing. But yeah, I'd have to say jerk off is the better song, just part of me has a more significant memory. I love how they are occas...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
They also added in The Pot last night. We didn't get Descending on night two in San Diego but we got The Pot and Part Of Me instead so it's a nice substitution in terms of total song lengths etc. Didn't feel like we missed out nor did it feel like the show was shorter. Band came on just before 8:45p...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I think that's true of any live song they do. I love Parabola but a couple of times Maynard's vocals have been a little flat or Adam doesn't sound that loud or the band are just a little out of sync for some reason. They're at a stage now with so many good songs to choose from and so tight as perfor...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Fun fact: the band rehearsed The Patient at their soundcheck yesterday, with Maynard doing vocals too. It sounded good obviously, even if we could only hear it from outside the venue.
I don't think they've played it since 2010.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
No 7empest yet Junior but they are still playing Vicarious with Maynard using the megaphone? Keep Jambi but lose Vicarious and everyone wins if they add something else instead. The visuals all night though are fantastic so good job mate! Keep up great work... and the band sound pretty much flawless ...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Ok sorry I didn't recognise the 'A Passage To Bangkok' part, I just thought it was him messing around in between songs. It was when he looked over at Justin to start what we thought would be Jambi that he launched into the first riff of Cold & Ugly... he paused for about 1 second and went straig...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
^I actually disagree with what's posted on Setlist.fm Adam Jones played the opening riff from Cold & Ugly just as a tease, maybe 5 or 6 seconds only, and then launched straight into the Jambi riff. It was just an opening/tease of a song and nothing else. When Danny came out after the intermissio...
