Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

So... do you reckon we will get a new album update this week?

Album name? Hint of artwork? Cryptic Blair post? More streaming mysteries on iTunes?

I'm curious about this new stuff...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Sydney, April 24, 2002:

Flood into The Grudge... we got the same thing two nights earlier in Brisbane.

I'm just so glad this clip lives on in YouTube.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

^I've seen them play many times now but that Brisbane show was right up there as one of the best gigs. Here are my top 5 or so: Brisbane, January 24, 2011 https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/tool/2011/brisbane-entertainment-centre-brisbane-australia-53d2d7c9.html San Diego, January 10, 2016 https://www.s...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I remember being a little anxious back in September/October 2010 when TOOL announced they were playing the Big Day Out festival here in Australia in January 2011. At the time, there wasn't much info about side shows even though a LOT of fans were obviously keen to attend if they were going to be ann...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

If I am at a TOOL show, some eerie music plays, a screen says "August 30th" and then Danny Carey returns to the stage to play some new music (CCTrip), I think that constitutes an 'official' enough announcement for me. I'm inferring they mean "Hey fans, our new album/music comes out Au...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Just wondering when you think we will be given some new info about the album i.e. album name, song titles, track lengths (maybe?), additional tour dates, purchase options e.g. cd, streaming, iTunes etc. Someone mentioned the AT&T Center in San Antonio possibly hosting TOOL shows between November...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I agree with you that Maynard doesn't give much away with regard to interacting with fans but calling him a cunt for wearing a Puscifer jacket on stage is going too far. Calling it a "cunt move" is too much. If he was selling Puscifer merchandise at TOOL shows, or singing Puscifer songs at...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

No Puscifer infused nonsense other than dipshit Maynard wearing Puscifer jackets at Tool shows. What a cunt. Calling Maynard a cunt for wearing a Puscifer jacket at live gigs? Really? I think that's going a bit too far. Sorry but that's disrespectful mate. Triggered or not, or whether you're trying...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I'm actually quite excited about it all being released at once and we will have to digest or absorb all of the music and artwork in one big hit at the end of August. If tour dates come too I'll be grateful for the bonus. Only October 13 in Sacramento is confirmed for now but I'm hoping there are som...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I've said this before regarding potentially fake reviews but if you heard something by TOOL for the first time you'd remember at least one specific moment or lyric from a song. For example, back in 2006, a journalist who got an early 'listening party' opportunity said something about the final track...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Yeah agreed. If in the future TOOL announced they are touring Australia again but Maynard won't be joining them and instead another vocalist was going to fill in temporarily or take his place from here on, I don't think I'd buy tickets to go see 'the band' play live anymore. Yes, Danny/Adam/Justin a...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

You could replace Maynard and Tool would still be Tool. The other three are far more important. Any number of vocalists can do what Maynard does and some even do it better. Very few in rock can do what Adam, Justin and Danny do musically. Vocals are fucking overrated anyway all of Tool's best momen...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

A few other bits you need to know about the other night: 1) Listen to Maynard's voice in Aenema to open the show, or how he sings The Pot (e.g. 12:19) and Intolerance (1:03:00). The clip below here isn't the greatest audio quality once Danny cuts in with drums but I hope you can hear how strong Mayn...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

TOOL played Eulogy only once on their small set of shows in October 2017... Somewhere in Pennsylvania I think. Last night's show in Lisbon was incredibly impressive. The band was once again very tight or on point but there was just a great vibe in the arena. Extended versions of both Schism and Stin...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

^Yeah agree with MOG here about how tight they sound right now. Obviously it makes sense that you would get better and better with age and experience but the other night in Madrid was one of the tightest performances I've seen them do... and there were still a couple of miscues/mistakes. But just th...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Also, it should be noted how strong Maynard is sounding right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D53vFZAmOgQ Yes, he still uses the megaphone thing for Vicarious and leaves out the climactic line but he is sounding possibly the best I have heard him sing since the old 2001/02 Lateralus shows. Eith...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Just walked past Altice Arena here in Lisbon... security was everywhere... I thought TOOL might be setting up or doing sound check stuff etc. Turns out I was wrong. Rod Stewart is playing tonight. Probably explains all the old/old school people lining up from 4pm onwards. FYI, Rod Stewart is 74 year...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I don't think that 7 minute clip or anything Danny does during these little solos after the intermission will be exactly the same as whatever they've recorded for the album. I think he's just sharing bits and pieces of the whole thing without giving too much away, hence the 'trailer' reference again...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Yeah I've heard a few different versions of CCTrip and found this clip the best one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C82K0_aQcM I hope all these different versions are like a 'trailer' for the real thing, similar to how they teased us with a 4 min trailer for Descending over these last few years. T...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I think they'll forever stick with the stylized 'tool' logo they have right now, similar to how Metallica have always stuck with the jagged M and A letters to bookend their name in many designs and album covers etc. Using a capital T and big, bold letters to spell out TOOL or Tool on a t-shirt can a...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I think back in 2016/2017 or whatever when they first starting playing their little 3 to 4 minute 'trailer' of Descending they listed it as 'A/Descending' possibly because they hadn't quite settled on a name for the song yet. I agree with the above comment about us over-analyzing this. Song titles a...
