Re: New Moderator needed, VOTE NOW

I'm a simple man, my vote was sold to Busty for welcoming me as a new resident and the prospect of a tiddy thread.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

The DC snare was discontinued by Sonor after a few years, while other signature snares from the same era are still around. So it probably wasn't a big seller - but it seems to be collector's item, since it very rarely shows up on ebay, and last time I've seen it the asking price was more than twice ...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I never played a signature model and always imagined it would sound exactly like whoever it's modelled on, so that must be a gimmick type thing? I know you could say the same about a strat etc but you can tweak the sound and if your gonna do that on a signature model then why get it in the first pl...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I'm really not too keen on the golden lettering. Seems kind of cheesy to me, like a 90s video game package design.

I like imagining them scrambling for a last minute album name change, because Chod (or Chöd... Chød...) is way better than whatever they had before. I want to believe.

https://loudwire.com/metallica-rep-live-nation-scam/ "The deal gave 40 percent of the resale revenue to Metallica, 40 percent to Live Nation, 12 percent to DiCioccio and 8 percent to Millette. A separate source claimed Live Nation’s share was lower." Nice. The cynical part of me is suspect...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

This is a fascinating topic for me. Any opinions? Please provide some examples. Iron Maiden is probably the only band that I actively wanted to like (or at least "get") and couldn't for quite a while. This was in the early 90s. I could not stand Bruces voice, the overly dramatic vibrato, ...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

They have written plenty of extensive song sections that don't include any or just a touch of vocals. Basically any long track since maybe Flood has at at some point a very "unrestrained instrumental" vibe going on. I don't think they miss "not having the constraint to write songs wit...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

The Lateralus era setlists were great! I'm fine with the band playing every new song of course, including the "Danny listening to call-in radio shows" or "Maynard squeezing his cat"-bits. It's just the in sequence-thing that generally bums me out.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Please no "playing the whole album in sequence"-tour. That's 80-90 minutes of knowing what will happen next and very little surprises. I've found myself bored after a while during every "full album"-show I've been to, regardless of the band (and in some cases I thought the band s...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Not "harder" of course, but more often (e.g. if only one 10-15 minute song fits on a side) - pulling me out of the flow of the album each time. To me Tool are a CD age band - they structure their albums with a 80 minute timeframe, long songs and no "breaks for format" in mind. Wo...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Unpopular (?) opinion: To me Tool isn't exactly "vinyl music". While the records certainly sound great and are nice to have and look at, I find the distribution of fewer but longer tracks over more vinyl sides makes it a hassle to listen and change the record every 10-15 minutes. Regardles...

Ah, gongs. I should put it on my bucket list to play - or even be near - one of these 80" Paiste monsters.

And for around $28,000 they are a bargain, really.

I have completely forgotten the Lateralus logo.

Given the previous evolution, the next one might just be some nested circles.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

You can watch at 2:00. There are subdivision hits laced throughout the groove that sound higher pitched than the bass drum. I guess he could be playing some melody on the bass drums, but it really doesn't sound like it. Edit: Around three minutes is a good spot because the video focuses on him. The...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Can anyone tell what is going on with Danny's part during the verses? He's clearly keeping time in 3/4 on the wavedrum with his right hand, snare on 7 in the song's 7/8, with some bass drums around, but in between these things you hear percussion that sounds like it would be pad samples, but his ha...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I don't mind the singles heavy setlist for Europe. They haven't been here since 2007 and these are the first shows ever for a considerable part of the audience. And I got to check off four songs of my "to hear live" list, including 25 minutes of new music. Complaining about that would seem...
