Re: The Grudge

and your point about them not making music is ridiculous. they've been making music in other projects constantly. you're teenage angst and sense of entitlement is a little misguided.

Re: The Grudge

Tool is a lazy band that at some point bought into their own delusional bullshit. Their best days are long behind them and I suspect after what will be 8 (maybe?) years between albums the end result will be little more than a 10,000 Days part two level album. Far from the MASTERPIECE our resident i...

Re: My Tool Top 10

Damn, you're so cool. Cool has nothing to do with it. If anything it's a commentary on the diverse nature of Tool fans. They seem to be able to draw in fans from all sorts of genres If you look specifically at the members of Tool and learn about the music that has influenced them....you'll find it'...

Re: The Grudge

It is fruitless to allow the ignorant to drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. It's hilarious you're so infatuated with a band you clearly hate. Obsessing over what they don't do for you... spending hours on their forum... hating them. Your life must really suck. To not allow yo...

Re: The Grudge

Maynard does have a gift for poetry. It's easy to see how some of his work would pique curiosity... especially in the younger generation that are just being introduced to the music. Their first taste for a spirituality outside of their upbringing may have been found through the band (mine was). This...

Re: My Tool Top 10

Aside from the spectacular drum fill that puts the cherry on top, my favorite part of The Grudge is that brief little bit of silence they give you before "Defining! Confining! Controlling!... and we're sinking deeper!" They explode back in, switching the rhythms for the first time in the s...

Re: My Tool Top 10

Look 10,000 Days is NOT as good an album as Lateralus or Aenima ... and in fairness to 10,000 days, I think a lot of us can agree that those two albums are two of the better albums ever made, by any band. I think expectations should be tempered for the next album; people are only going to disappoin...

Re: My Tool Top 10

right... the band gives joe barressi the recording and they say "do with this what you will, hope it sounds great!" and then they just listen to the cd when it's on the shelves like the rest of us.

Re: My Tool Top 10

I see this is a complicated concept for you to wrap your head around. the mastering... is done... with the producer... and the band... to achieve... a sound... that makes everyone happy. except you.

Re: My Tool Top 10

I personally recall saying to myself, upon my first few listens to 10,000 days, that the band seemed fucking huge on that album. they had an incredibly broad range of tone and timbre. moreso than on past albums. whatever they did, I thought it stood alone and it worked.

Re: My Tool Top 10

it's a metal band... distortion and feedback are a common part of the show and the albums. it's not a ridiculous notion to assume the band that is anal about every little thing would purposely include static and clipping. im sure there are other examples but NIN does it too.

Re: My Tool Top 10

I personally enjoy the mix of 10,000 days and appreciate that it is different than Lateralus/Aenima. I admit that part of that is my love for the band and I've kind of let them lead me by the hand with every record. When it came out I was stoked and thought it was brilliant just like I did with the ...

10. Intolerance 9. Stinkfist 8. Flood 7. No Quarter 6. Jambi 5. Parabol/Parabola 4. Aenima 3. Forty-Six and 2 2. Lateralus 1. Pushit (salival) Intolerance jumped into my top ten after seeing that live in St. Paul in 2010; what an amazing live song. Stinkfist was the first Tool song I ever heard live...
