I know this has been a topic in the past. Â I just came across a cover of Lateralus that is just awesome. Â One of my favorite bands, Dopapod, check em out:

A mite rough around the edges (especially the vocals), but a damn far cry better than I could ever do (not that I'd try). Â Impressive for a high school cover band. Â I wish you could hear the drums and guitar better in the mix, but the bass was nearly spot on, including the effects.

The piano I can take-
and I'm not saying the dude's not talented;
He is, but when IÂ
Saw the fucking microphone, my
Immediate thought was, "Oh no...he's gonna ruin itÂ
By singing, isn't he?" and sure enough...
That's all.

Haha, fair enough man.. I appreciated his lyrics for what they were.. I like a cover to be different from the original, so would prefer he sang it a little differently with his own style, Â rather than try replicate Maynard.Â
Since this thread will most likely disappear in the non too distant future, I'm gonna try derail the thread into 'Covers' in general if that's cool, coz there's only so many Tool covers worth posting..
I only found out about this one thanks to cracked.com 6 months ago, but has turned into one of my favourite covers ever performed: Chris Cornell, Billie Jean

Willie Nelson covering Eddie Vedder's "Just Breathe". Â I love this song and really like this cover.
I've spent the past hour finding 8-bit remixes of Tool-songs so if you're into that, click the link above, I uploaded the ones I could find on youtube. Some are better than others.

UKE is too shy to pimp his own work, but I think we should give him props on this performance of Sober with his band. Â
Great job on the vocals, dude! Â I KNOW you got laid after that....
