Heck, I could give a "New Tool Album" assignment to the autistic kids at the local recreation centre and it wouldn't take them 8 fucking years....

"But......we're living our lives you see. Adam's taken up painting and Justin's growing a beard. That's why it's taking so long. You see......our "lives" are getting in the way."

Fucken lazy assed rich bastards. How long does it take to write a dozen or so riffs? Is recording an album SO mentally and physically challenging that you need to take 3 Alaskan fishing trips, about 9 Hawaiian surfing safaris, 4 Mexican fiestas and 5 or 6 UFO sight seeing tours in Arizona in between??! Is it really that hard? Is it THAT mentally draining?!?! Hey guys, did you know there are surgeons who perform life saving surgery every FUCKING DAY OF THEIR LIVES??!?! That's right...they stop people from DYING. EVERY DAY!!

You guys are writing some riffs and drum patterns.

Comparisons please.

Please don't compare what Tool does to some simpleton surgeons.

Art has saved way more lives then medicine ever could.

All I'd need it $10 mill and I'd live off the interest making sure to reinvest to keep up with the CPI and would never work another day in my life.

Nah, you would blow it on wine and male "escorts". It would be gone inside of 6 months.

Sure I would. Doesn't mean I would duck out on my commitments and responsibilities. First of all if I was talented enough to be a professional musician I would be making music all the time because I fucking love making music. Furthermore, if I happened to be in a band I sure as shit wouldn't treat my fans like shit and lie about everything all the time. If I say I am going to do something I do it. And if for some reason I couldn't make good on my word I would be clear about what happened and where I was in the process. I would have enough respect for the people that made me rich not to string them along with bullshit smoke and mirrors. I am sick of the apologist drivel when it comes to Tool. I cannot think of another band off the top of my head that pulls that kind of bullshit they do on a regular basis and still maintains a rabid fanbase.

Tool is a lazy band that at some point bought into their own delusional bullshit. Their best days are long behind them and I suspect after what will be 8 (maybe?) years between albums the end result will be little more than a 10,000 Days part two level album. Far from the MASTERPIECE our resident internet superhero / wannabee art critic seems to think it will be.

Complacency cripples the creative process.

@ Mog - you could save everyone a lot of time by coming up with a simple mnemonic to express your frustration with Tool's behavior in this situation.

Instead of these multiple long and rambling rants, how about a simple one or two line phrase? Something you could whip out when some foolish TTF waxes optimistic, or just to update your sig.

Here are some examples: http://www.fun-with-words.com/mnem_example.html

Knock yourself out. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. If I wasn't exceedingly lazy, I would give it a shot myself.

You know what cracks me up? This fucker has an entire forum to wax poetic about his love for Tool yet he is COMPELLED to wander into The Grudge and defend his verrry favoriteeee band. Did anyone read his bullshit 10,000 Days puzzle post? Fuck the members of Tool have all said people read wayyyyy to much into their songs. Motherfuckers looking for the meaning of life in a rock song. Typical Tool Fans

10,000 days part 2 because all of their records sound exactly the same... they never changed or got better. yep.

and your point about them not making music is ridiculous. they've been making music in other projects constantly. you're teenage angst and sense of entitlement is a little misguided.

Better? Nope. Aenima and Lateralus are far superior to 10,000 Days.

Your delusional devotion to a band that lacks professionalism and treats it's fanbase like shit is borderline absurd. Good day.

one thing is certain... that no matter how great the next album is, you'll refuse to like it.
