hahahahahahaah what if the live album is THE setlist? A whole boxset of 2009* shows...


*stale setlist aside, I still stand by a lot of that run being really awesome if you were willing to accept really subtle new twists on the same core songs. Notably, Rosetta Stoned being turned into the kind of cornerstone of the show, which was amazing.

Yuck! The 2009 shows I saw (in TX) were the least inspired Tool shows (in terms of performance) I've seen in person.

It was definitely Maynard's low point in terms of performance. But the overall show I saw in Atlanta in '09 was pretty awesome in many ways. On paper, that set list looks boring and like a weird procession from the previous tours. But in person, they really dragged out Lost Keys/Rosetta Stone and the laser effects and general production during those songs made the entire show worth it for me. That said... still hands down the "worst" Tool show I've seen. Which of course, was still better than almost every other concert I've seen barring a few haha.

Personally, I love LK/RS, and I agree with you that making that the "meat" was a great move. It was so powerful and fun live. Balls to the wall. And since much of MJK's vocals are altered/effected/distorted on RS, he wasn't as much of a factor there.
