I was getting excited about the new album but how can you? they could definitely finish writing, then record and release a new album. for sure they could. but then it HAS to be followed by a tour, right? how can these guys tour with infants? can Adam and Danny 12 months from now really be wrapping up their first leg of a US tour? starting to seriously doubt that. then go overseas? no way man.

Yeah this is why I'm a little bummed now. The new album might still be years away.

We must also take into consideration that all these babies haven't changed any potential "world tour" possibilities...

Because May Jay said a while ago that he couldn't handle those anymore. Meaning scenarios for handling a lack of long drawn out tour have (probably) been thought of long ago.

That's my guess, I guess.

They are all old men... I would be happy if they the spent lots of time in the studio, and jamming at the loft, or at some place in Arizona... I would take that over extended world tours.... I would rather additional output to touring, although I doubt that it would happen...

Yeah, this certainly changes things in regards to the new album. Presuming Rynne is about 3 months in, we're looking at a due date in between May-Jul. If Tool aren't in the studio pretty quickly in 2015, I suspect we can kiss goodbye a release next year.

Surely this album has to have some sort of child theme. I mean, all members except Justin has had a kid.

This is too funny. Maynard gets a pimple on his ass and people speculate a possible album release date by factoring that info into some pseudo timeline. Danny could get a parking ticket and someone would say some shit like, "Okay, so if he pays the ticket by January they can be in the studio by mid February. Then its 9 weeks of tracking, 5 weeks to mix and master, 374 hours on the album art, 2 days to make the CD's, 45 minutes to get lunch, 4 1/2 minutes jacking off and presto! We'll have our album on October 6, 2015 at 11:01AM PST." You know what? Take away all the babies, wine, lawsuits, fishing trips and fucking scooter accidents and we still wouldn't be any closer to a new album. These guys are a bunch of rich, drunk old dudes who do whatever they want when they want. Now if there were still money to be made selling albums we'd've had this new record years ago and would probably be having this same conversation, only about their 6th or 7th upcoming album.
