I think if it was actual big news coming out of the Tool camp, then Fall Out Boy would not be on the front page. I could be wrong though....

Yes, that is a very safe assumption.

I hope it's not just another clickbait. But who knows.

WTF is Fall Out Boy doing on the cover of Kerrang??? Holy shit, shut that publication the fuck down.

What makes me think it's more than just click bait is that Kerrang didn't even mention Tool in their post. It would have been a perfect opportunity to build hype for they magazine, get alternative nation to put out 5 bullshit articles on Tool News, etc. But they didn't even mention it. They didn't tag Tool in the post

It's going to be a lame charting of all the signposts along the way so far, and nothing more.

But guys, what about the pink font?!!?!?!

Also on that front, that is truly awful graphic design. The line work on it, and how the Tool bit is inside of those lines that kind of "encase" all the Fall Out Boy stuff, makes it feel like Tool is somehow nestled in with Fall Out Boy. Which, as we all know, is 100% accurate given the guest appearances scheduled for "Evolution." Love the name btw. Should be a top notch album.

The entire thing is distracting, including the guy on the far left looking too much like Timmy C.

So click bait has made it's way to physical format now. Sweet evolution

Sounds like just a rehash of Danny's remarks on the album a few weeks ago.

Good to hear Danny is speaking about it with some confidence. Still want more concrete news before getting hyped up

More talk (article is an interesting read, though perhaps not for Tool-only fans):

http://www.musicradar.com/news/danny-ca ... ing-tracks
Speaking of Tool – does the drummer have an update on how that long-awaited fifth album is shaping up and when it will be appearing?

“All I can say is it’s still something in progress,” shrugs Carey – before the line goes ominously quiet. There’s a distant murmur in the background. “Definitely this year,” he laughs, before thanking us for the call and explaining he needs to rush off. The drummer is remaining as tight-lipped as ever. We can but hope. And in the meantime, a maiden voyage with the Seagullmen beckons…

Scan of the Kerrang article:

Has a little more in it than I expected, but still not giving too much away

Well, I'm not surprised at all. Fuckin' clickbait, as expected.

"The drummer is remaining as tight-lipped as ever. We can but hope."

"drummer is remaining tight-lipped

"drummer tight-lipped"

"tight"

"lipped"

Do these people even Tool? Probably still in middle school when 10K came out.

Soon*

You all realize Danny is fucking around and having a big laugh about the "2018" thing, right? He has no idea when this is happening.

Not sure I agree. I think it's more just optimism, rather than "having a big laugh". I think the line in the Kerrang article is an indication he's starting to think it could be 2019 after all (but still hopes for 2018).

Multi-tasking is overrated. More than anything else, I'm concerned about Maynard's creative output with Tool after hearing his new material with APC. I'm not sure he should be multi-tasking between 3 or 4 different endeavors/projects at this point in his life if the end result of his lyrics and vocals are pedestrian. *Bigger concern than DC already back peddling on 2018 in January of 2018.

^ while it's his life and he can do whatever the fuck he wants, that is a very valid point.

There's only so much inspiration one person can have, the more he's spreading that out between bands the faster you would assume his poignancy would run out

Yup, I agree. Even if new Tool ever sees the light of day I’ve got low expectations at this point. Maynard is getting older so don’t expect the best scream out of him or his most inspirational lyrics ever to come out. I’m a big NIN fan but have listened to some big turds churn out from the Reznor/Ross camp over the past decade.

There seems to be a shelf life to bands and musicians, it’s a young persons game. Seems like everything that could be done has already been done.

That pessimism aside if there’s one band that can make another great/classic album, it’s Tool. Hope they pull it off.

Bach wrote over 1000 pieces in his lifetime. Duke Ellington wrote over 3000. I don't buy the idea that inspiration is limited.
