FRI: An unmissable Take 5 is on your radio today. After 10am? Tool. Yes, the legendary band are Taking 5 on Friday. One half of Tool will be in and sharing their music collection, and stories, with you. They don't do a lot of media, so don't miss this chance to settle in and get to know one of the most loved bands on triple j. Tool Fridays!

Dont know where to post this, but my mate just text me to say Tool are on Triple J around 10am Vic time, so in 20 mins. I dont know any more details.

Justin is doing some weird Darth Vader breathing, hope he's feeling alright. Maybe it's hard to breathe through that beard. I absolutely love how Australian people pronounce Maynard.

They're "about 6 and a half in," but unsure what that measurement is. Seems that doesn't mean songs.

"The early days of Tool's formation and firmly grounded in pity." - the interviewer, I think she's cool. "So we'll be hearing a new Tool album within the next...5 years? 10 years?" "I think that's safe to say," Danny.

 

Halfway Home - TV on the Radio (Justin keeps picking dead bass players)

Interview has been really good so far.  Justin has more or less admitted to writers block.  Don't want to give out any hints as to when the album will be ready, as they're aware they've done that before and not delivered.

Justin has also admitted to a fetish for dead bassists.

Doesn't sound like much progress is being made on the album. Justin admitted to writer's block. Maybe we'll see it at the end of 2014.

Depressing.

It was interesting to hear them say that they have been playing hints of new music at their gigs. There is a piece they have been playing at gigs for the last few years now between songs. I bet that is part of a new song, I would hunt it down but im on my phone.

Yeah, was an interesting statement especially since

[spoiler]the only new thing they added sonically to the show was the synth and drum solo, neither of which I think give us much clue to a new song.  The other segue was the one they've been playing a while now.[/spoiler]

I enjoyed their comments on the new album. Gave me more hope to be honest - not that it would be soon, but that it will come, and it'll be amazing.

I think there's no doubt the album will be made at some point, it's all a matter of how much longer and whether it'll be any good.

I think it's even more likely now that they'll probably make a change in direction. I'd expect an EP in the next twelve months before a full length album (which I still think will be a double CD).

One-track experimental synth-based but still the normal members doing their normal things EP. I'm calling it.
