"then it's not probably not possible to solve."

(That's right, bitches - goin' ol' skool. Without that fancy "quote" shit).

Did the double-neg not blow anyone else's mind?

Why does the Australian release have same attributes as the EU release (astaroth/fake albums etc) but no cat #'s on the insert albums? I am considering buying one (I'm US) just to be able to have one, also I really want to see the insert in person.

Why would they introduce the Melvins as Mungey the Clown during the 98 mini tour?

Hahahaha, my bad. I think I wrote "its not possible" at first then went back to make it "probably not possible" but failed horribly.

Could the obsolete references be about Toolband? The site is due an upgrade and old clues might be lost in the transfer?

The only release of Aenima that was exclusive for Poland was the cassette edition (it was also manufactured here). I have it (cat. nr: 61422 31144 4) and it contains nothing but the album itself, although I have no idea how many of these were made. I also have the CD edition that I bought in Warsaw a couple of years ago, and the only anomaly I can discern in the booklet are the reversed track times for H. and Useful Idiot, that I think are common on all European releases.

There is a discussion about this going on at TDN where someone has posted clear pictures of all the "fake" albums with all of the catalog numbers. Here are some of the good bits.

- Blair kept referring to the catalog number for Bethlehem Abortion Clinic, which is 12134-66649-4. Arrange this as 1-213-466-6494 and it is a phone number, once registered to Danny Carey, 52, of Los Angeles, CA. I searched the number (without the preceding number 1) and found legitimate information on this through a site called Spokeo. Not only does the phone number list his age, his brother Dale and his age (40), it also lists a couple of addresses (which I will not post here) linked to this phone number. Unfortunately, the phone number is no longer active. Whether this number at one time actually led to speaking with a person or a recorded message, or was possibly something else to throw people of the scent, is unknown.

- Most of the images in the insert appear to be stock photographs. The only one that is not is Bethlehem Abortion Clinic. Here is a link to pictures of the insert.

- Some of the European versions of the Aenima CD also had alternate art on the CD itself, the sigil of Astaroth. Why Blair said it is the sigil of Furfur, we'll probably never know (maybe more throwing people off type stuff). Though it may have something to do with people getting the two mixed up, where in The Lesser Key of Solomon, the figure number of Astaroth is 34 (where Astaroth is actually the 29th spirit) and Furfur is the 34th spirit (where Furfur's figure number is 39).

- There are 8 letters in the word Astaroth.

- Maynard mentioned at least twice (once in an article in WILMA magazine in 96, and once in an internet chat in 97) that Aenima was recorded on a Tascam 8-track reel-to-reel device (completely different from an 8-track tape). However, he also was quoted in the WILMA article as saying Aenima was recorded at Casablanca Studios, which is untrue.

- In that infamous interview with Maynard in 1993 where he talks about Lachrymology, he mentions that touring has been like "one big crapsteak smothered in dictators" at the very beginning. Crapsteaks Smothered in Dictators (12121-21212-2) is one of the fake albums in the insert.

There is probably a lot more going on with this, mainly related to the occult side of things that I'm not really qualified to speak about, but these are the main things I found interesting besides the great work by Froudie finding all the relevant info the newsletter/news posts on toolband.

Please, for the love of all that is good, someone figure this out! It's driving me nuts!

Jimmy is a song about James’ mother dying when he was eleven years old. (or as the new story goes; getting cancer and going to hospital for the next 27 years..).
Wait, what?

This guy must have smoked all the weed, all of it.

They want you to “live in their world”; when in actual fact you should be living in YOUR world, focusing on the discovery, expression and enjoyment of your True Self and working to free yourself from illusions of all sorts.

Know thyself; don’t bother with rock bands like this.
Well can't argue with that logic, time to burn all my Tool cds

"As we all know, Eulogy is about Bill Hicks"

Since when? And has this writer even heard the lyrics in Eulogy?

I maintain that Eulogy is in fact, about May Jay. Or at least the version of him during the Undertow era.

Him and Hitler were the theories I heard a lot back when I first got into Tool. Kurt Cobain to a lesser extent too.

I don't know much about L. Ron besides the scientology stuff so I don't know if he fits the description in this song.

FWIW, I recently emailed Blair to ask him if Problem 8 and Bethlehem Abortion Clinic were directly related to each other and if the numbers in the insert needed to be re-arranged. This is the response I got:

"Hello,
Sorry for the delay, but I've been dealing with some issues involving my
wisdom teeth, and haven't checked the email for a while. To answer your
question, the two are not related. And the numbers should not be
re-arranged.
Cheers!

BMB"

the thing that may be obsolete is a land line with an answering machine on it.

when you called the number, the song played on the answering machine.

walt called todd/the nazis to order a hit on himself so he can fake his own death.
