back on topic. has anyone in the 14 pages of this thread (I can't remember) ever had the thought that they take a minimalist approach to the next album design? even to an extreme? like "The Black Album" or even further? no song titles or credits listed (maybe it's in their contract that they have the right to NOT include anything?). could be possible. it would be interesting to say the least. has a major act ever released an LP and put absolutely nothing on the cover, back or inside jackets? just put "Tool" in very small font, like microscopic on the actual CD? that would be annoying and awesome.
maybe include a plastic magnifying glass? hahaha.

I'd sue you but then you wouldn't be able to get any work done for 8+ years.

Make it so. That's a pretty great idea.

It would be nice to see Tool flip the script on the design, but they bank on selling tons of cds with their unique packaging ideas. I'd be down for a minimalist approach though. No gimmicks.

I won't be impressed at all if they use another one of GREY's works.
(And seriously, EVERYONE needs to relax. I know you want things to go smoothly here, Hellboi, but it wouldn't hurt if you lightened up a bit. We've all got your back, but come on.
And you dudes could probably stop being dicks for two seconds. Keep it in Infinity. That shit being brought back was a God-send for me, because I'm a moron.
No need to fuck shit up in the office when the playground is right next door.)

Kittaann... I can hear that drum "ba-dumb' but it needs to be tuned for some reason.
Probably because it is out of tune.
Better check with DC about that.

I think my speakers are busted. I turned the volume up to 11 and still can't hear a thing.

Inspiration comes from so many different places.
The new TOOL album cover should be a picture of an empty wallet.

I liked the pics of the dudes in "UNDERTOW". It felt personal and cool.
I'd be up for that again.
Either way, let's be honest: It's going to be amazing. I speak shit about Jone$ a lot, but the guy has a great eye.

That would be cool for the 23rd anniversary reissue of Lateralus. Make the discs saw blades and I'm sold.

Don't fucking joke. We both called the design of the last album. No reason why we can't do it again.

It would be very kind of the boys to include in the packaging first aid instructions for the nosebleed riffs.
Stop the Bleeding:
- Sit up straight and lean forward slightly. Don't lie down or tilt the head backward.
- With thumb and index finger, firmly pinch the nose just below the bone up against the face.
- Apply pressure for 5 minutes. Time yourself with a clock.
- If bleeding continues after 5 minutes, turn off new album and don't ever play it again.

The album should be in Picture Disc format. One side - the song titles. The Other side - that crazy assed pic of Maynard sitting on the toilet.

Tool will release an album when they're ready.
Just get on with life and try to enjoy it.
I love you all, beautiful creatures.

I'm feeling blue and red. Vibrant, and more so than "LATERALUS" (which was very dark, if you think about it).

Oh, totes, man.
I've had this conversation with a few people: The backing in itself was obviously black; but it went beyond that.
Far be it from me to say that TOOL aren't deep, but by fuck they managed to get an incredibly esoteric cover for "LATERALUS". I really enjoyed looking at the thing (OK, whilst on drugs) and going on really cool little mindspace journeys with that thing.
Incredibly dark. Funny that other people don't see it so.

I guess we will have to have this discussion over a few beers one day, all I hear is positivity.
