May...be could provide the fabled 2nd guitar for a bit of CV action.

The mind wanders.

Approximately (exactly) 0 of my prophecies over the past decade have actualised.

So that Sydney show tonight was pretty epic; longest TOOL show I've seen. Band came on stage at 8:45pm and finished at 11:10pm. We got the regualr FI tour setlist including Descending but also The Pot and Part Of Me.

The band sounded very tight and Maynard appeared to be in a good mood. Danny also did some insane new thing on CCTrip; it was ridiculous.

If they play 7empest Tuesday night I think that will pretty much do me for a few more years. Tonight alone was such a good fix. And OMG Qudos Bank Arena has a massive GA section. Biggest floor for a show I've attended. Good times!

Damn descending and part of me on night 1. I'll be a very happy camper if we get that. Fuck now I won't be surprised if they were to pull out 7empest tonight.

I tell ya what, after taking seats I ain't ever going back to the floor. I had a perfect view of the stage and the boys from my vantage point and the sound was pitch perfect. Also if anyone was looking for me I was the bald guy with the beard.

Observations:

- Author and Punisher sounds like if Dr Claw went on to become a musician.
-Parabol/a what a fucking jam
-Schism, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but probably got the biggest Yewl from the crowd
- The jammy 'boring' part near the end of Penuma was actually one of the highlights of the night for me and the dynamic live puts the recording to shame, the energy really isn't there and I'm not sure went wrong
- Not sure what was up with Justin but Adam kept on pointing to him during the show and at the start of Jambi went over and gave him a kiss on the head and urged the crowd to cheer him on
- Maynard simply does not give a fuck during Vicarious, sits in the back with a vocader swinging his legs as he lazily goes through the motions, hilarious
- Descending, highlight of the night and Adam didn't even fuck up, stuck the landing perfectly
- Danny sucked all the atmosphere out of the room with his gong solo and it took halfway into Invincible for the crowd to get back into the show
- Vacuum guy was the second support act who appeared after Authour & Punisher but they forgot to mic him up
- Danny was shown mysterious orange card during the Invincible synth part

We essentially got 14 songs last night; it was awesome. So many times I've seen the band do 10, 11 or 12 songs and walked away thinking "That was great but they could have played _____ " etc. Didn't feel like that last night. A comprehensive display.

That was one of the best shows I've seen. Simple as that.

Also: I think it really helps when Maynard is in a good mood and talks a little more to the crowd. The show just had a great 'vibe'.

Very much looking forward to doing it all again tonight...

Can anyone give some info on the posters available please?

How many are signed and how much are they?

Do you have to be there when doors open to get one?

How about regular, unsigned ones?

Thanks!

Hey hey - nice one.

Vacuum guy was indeed hard at it.

fwiw random observations I can muster:

- Descending! You'll hear no more from me on this now. Played, heard it, nailed it. Banger.
- Thought the gong thing was pretty cool imo - not a crowd pleaser but if you appreciate what he's doing with it all and you're in a comfy seat then no probs - enjoyed. Excellent visuals for CCtrip.
- Strikes me as a bit odd that the 'intermission' is essentially 4/5ths through their set with only 2 songs and a bit of the drums that follow. Their choice, whatever.
- Rammstein single played during the break. Can't remember if it was between author+punisher set (very good), or intermission.
- Posters were gone in a flash. No chance. Check ebay. The merch is a bit meh - t-shirts and stuff with that massive alex grey torch screen printed on the back or the priest seem to lack a little, uhh, subtlety?
- Qdos arena (+ anz stadium) are farking aaaages away from SYD cbd. The train out there and back was a mission. Pity that casino they're building right in the thick of the city can't put an arena of some sort in it's guts.
- Some 150kg dude with dreads was topless and standing up going hard about 4 rows back from me for 90 mins - was either tripping balls or trying to close off his apple watch rings - pity those who paid $200 to sit around the gyrating beast. He passed-out by about half-way.
- Saw maybe 3 or 4 ejections of ppl being led up from GA to the exit. I imagine for security it must be a hard call to make pulling someone out who's been spotted from afar and literally grabbing and throwing them out. Thems the rules.
- Quite a bit of interplay between AJ and JC. JC went a little out of his way to point to himself during invincible with the 'warrior struggling' jingle. Read into that whatever you want. Bad oysters again maybe. He was in good form though.
- I feel like there are little bits thrown in the set that are what would have been, or are going to be, the substance of new material. It's polished, new, feels good. Not unprecedented with wings etc being previewed on the road before it came out in 10k. Enjoy if you get the chance.
- Crowd in parts were going hard - was noted/thanked(?) by MJK for the 90s throwback he got from the moshing/surfing.
- Schism/Stinkfist were not extended, presumably to fit in more of the other stuff. Pity as these days it's the strong suit of both songs and makes them worth being played imo, and only takes.... what? 2 more mins?
- Night 2... here we go again.

I'd say so, didn't bother with the merch booth due to the long lines, will scope it out tonight for a tshirt if it's not too on the nose.

LOL @ the dickhead scalping those bootleg shirts out the front after the show

There's usually another merch stand inside the main entrance at Qudos Bank Arena. The lines outside for the merch were incredibly long so I'd recommend going into the venue earlier if you can and hitting up the other merch stand.

Alex Grey poster is nice but it feels too familiar; I'm more of a fan of those posters from the January US shows like San Diego, San Jose and Atlanta. Just different artwork than to what they've done before.

Don't know how the Aussie arenas are laid out, so this may not be useful at all, but I've always had decent luck getting in the doors and heading to the merch booth(s) on the upper levels. A lot of people will stop on the main level for beers, food and merch before heading up.
