"What was that band you liked, "Korn" or something?"

I'll repost this here since I'm guessing it's what gave CJ the idea for this thread:
I played Aenima for my Texas Country loving friend at work today. He was generally quiet and weirded out by it but did offer up these comments:
L
Stinkfist/Eulogy/H/46 & 2- this rocks but why am I having trouble head banging to it?"
Die Eier Von Satan- "what are we listening to? (Genuinely concerned look on his face) Told him the truth

After I told him what our boy UKE's favorite Tool track is about he laughed loudly. You could say he loled. "Oh really?! Awesome!"

Ions also messed with him. ( I guess the segues are easier to get at first?)

Third Eye- Is that Bill Hicks? Cool! (During the first "so good to see you") That sounds like some heartfelt stuff.

He wasn't blown away by it, nor was I expecting him to, but he seemed to enjoy it. I found his Von Satan and "why can't I head bang comments" funny.

My older brother is an 80's teen, still likes Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Poison, etc. Upon hearing the first minute or so of Jimmy looked at me and joked, "Hail Satan". Thought it was the most evil sound he'd heard in music.

I think casual Tool fans' reactions to Tool are more annoying/hilarious than those who have never heard the band.

My sister - "This is too dark and oppressive. Can we put something else on?"

My other sister - "Do we have to listen to this now??"

My (American) ex - "That's just dark. Too dark. "

My sister's husband - "No I'm......not really getting into this at all"

My work colleague - "OK I'm officially not letting you near the stereo again".

My friend from Adelaide - "I liked that drifty ambient one you just played (10,000 Days / Wings...) but this next one (The Pot)is the sort of thing they do that turns me right off them "

Another friend - "They're fucking stupid. Who listens to this sort of thing? Manic depressives and people with no social lives ?"

You should hear people's reactions when I play Whitehouse.

Now that would make for an interesting thread....

Fucking fuck.

My partner (literally yesterday, as I wore my TOOL Tshirt): "Why do you still wear band Tshirts? You're 32."

Me: No words, I just went straight for an ovary punch.

Oh yeah...another good one:

Record Store Guy - "I've listened to them but have NO idea what they're going on about. It just goes way over my head. I like my music simple and my lyrics straight forward. But those guys.....those guys are on another wavelength altogether".
