Hopefully they've moved on to Fallout 4, and not Elder Scrolls Online...

They have. Fallout 4 is their "next big project".

Probably the gaming world's worst kept secret...

No.  The Playstation Vita was probably the worst kept secret in the gaming world, I knew everything about it like 2 weeks before they announced it.

Bethesda is teasing a new game on Twitter.  The new game is NOT being developed by Bethesda Game Studios, who developed Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, so it is unlikely to be either of those games.

Wolfenstein: The New Order has been announced.  The game takes place in a re-imagined 1960s where the Nazis won the war apparently, and apparently that gives them the technology to build robots.

The game being developed by MachineGames a company formed by some of the founding members of Starbreeze Studios, who were the creative team for the Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay.

Wolfenstein The New Order will not have multiplayer. It will be a strictly singleplayer affair.

Sounds interesting.  Glad they ditched multiplayer - not every game needs to have it.  Not sure I liked the use of Hendrix in the launch trailer - not that I hold him in some super high esteem, just that it didn't really suit it.

EA opens DICE LA to make Star Wars games.  Dice head Karl-Magnus Troedsson also hopes to poach talent from Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

I've always liked the quality of work from the DICE guys, so I'm hoping the leaders/managers in charge will continue that on with the new hires.  Hopefully the games that come out of this are amazing.

Just Cause developer promises that Avalanche Studios' next title will be stuffed with "holy fucking shit!" moments.

He also revealed that the images posted to Instagram were from a steampunk title that has been put on hold.

It was a program that locked certain features of a game unless you entered a code in the package. The features were usually related to multiplayer, but not always such as in the case of Batman Arkham City's Catwoman section. It was started with the intention of cutting down on used game sales.

Fair enough.  I pirate most of EA's games to avoid their shitty DRM, so never really noticed.

So Microsoft has confirmed that the new Xbox will have used game fees and mandatory game installation.

In unrelated news, Sony stock has gone up %8 today.

Bye-bye, Xbox. If I needed more proof that I should stick to PC gaming, this was it.

I thought I heard the PS4 has similar functions. Not sure where I'm leaning yet. Seems like the Xbox One has more innovative fetures at this point. It all comes down to price and what each system has to offer.  Both systems will have great games.

None of the next-gen consoles are showing a great deal of innovation really - just faster and more powerful hardware.  As bogart says, games are most likely to make or break each console, and at this stage there seems no clear winner in that area (to me anyway).

As Crow points out, PC gaming is all I need for now.  I'd be more inclined to by a Steam console than a Sony or MS one, presuming such a thing ever happens.

Yeah the console idea has really hit a wall in my mind.  PC pretty much does everything (Steam really drives this), and casual gamers can hit up their smartphones or tablets.
