Posted on the Frontier Facebook page not long ago are details of a VIP ticket sale for the coming Tool shows in Australia and New Zealand:

VIP PACKAGE
FOR DEDICATED FANS!
On sale to public Fri 12 Apr, 9am (local time)

Adding to the sheer power and force of a live performance that Tool ticketholders have to look forward to, those who purchase a VIP package will also receive:

- Access to sound-check with members of Tool
- Q+A session with Adam
- Exclusive merchandise pack including:
1. An exclusive Tool tour t-shirt
2. Poster
3. VIP laminate
4. Bag of goodies
(These items feature designs exclusive to the VIP package and are not available for purchase anywhere else)
- Early entry to the Floor (for GA ticket holders only)

*NOTE: the VIP package does NOT include an event ticket. Please ensure you have purchased your event ticket prior to purchasing your VIP package.

Packages go on sale from 9am local time, Friday 12 April and will retail for $504 + ticketing agency transaction fees.

I don't like to editorialise too much, but $500 is an outrageous amount for this in my opinion. Still, no doubt there will be some takers.

More like they know there are people out there willing to just hand it over.

The best part is, it doesn't even include a ticket...that's separate.

Can't wait till this tour is over and they go back to LA and just decide to break up.

Cash grab!

Holy fuck! Doesn't even include a ticket? Goddamn. Thats pretty outrageous. If it was about $300 and included a GA ticket; I would definetely do it (If I lived in Australia). If people thought they anniversary Opiate EP price point was bad; wait till they get a load of this shit.

Whats the price range for tix at this show?

I did the VIP experience for Puscifer their last show and thought it was worth it. $200/ticket I believe. I had front row seats, wine tasting, signed poster, Puscifer bag+ other swag and soundcheck. Maynard even managed to come to the wine tasting and make some smart ass comments. I also met one of the roadies who said he always tours w/ Tool, APC and Puscifer. Been with Tool since the beginning. Imagine the stories that guy has. His name was Joe.

$500...fock...gimme a break. Let the shitfest begin...

There's nothing to say about this. I think we're all on the same page.

Really looking forward to pirating their next release now. I mean, really looking forward to it.

i think tickets were like 140 bucks each... and theres no mention of booze on that list, so you gotta buy that too. Good luck getting change of 700.

Part of me is absolutely begging this to be some gimmick with the touring company.

Otherwise, fuck Tool. FUCK Tool. VIP package sans ticket? With a price tag like that? If this is where they're going and what they think of their "true fans," I will buy a copy of the album just to break the disc and burn the liner notes and then torrent it online.

Is it worth $650 to call Adam a cunt to his face?

I mentioned to blender earlier in chat: If it's really "for dedicated fans", why charge anything? Why not just say, "Look, morons: be one of the first fifty people to email us, and we'll give you this VIP package. It's a way for us to show you that we appreciate you. All the best."

Maybe I'll create a Kickstarter project to do this...

I think there's a reasonable chance a large part of the markup is from the touring company, but I expect Tool would still have to sign off on it.  Unless they start throwing on Opiate reissues, there's at best $150 worth of product in the package (far less than that if you look at cost price).  $350 just for the Q & A and soundcheck seems pretty expensive.

These guys have shit timing, eh...

Album date keeps getting pushed back in interviews

Signed EP with updated artwork for $150

Now this shit?!

I never agreed with the money grabber opinion so many people have regarding this band; but I'm more inclined to lean that way after seeing this.

they must really think they are something special. even if it had a ticket in it i wouldnt pay that for this. BUT they dont even include a ticket!. the 'swag bag' is cheap shit. stickers..keychains..it wont be anything that expensive! thats for the next cash grab.

shame on them!. considering how much control they have over their art and music etc etc you cant blame this on the ticket company/record company or any of that. id say they are agreeing to this or thought to do it themselves and now its here.

best i can say is i hope a lot of cool tapers go to this and SHARE the live music. i love live audience recordings and that will be a nice softner next to hearing this lame news!

Well, with regard to the "QandA" session with Mr Jones, the boys in the chatroom today came up with some good stuff.

So, if any fucking stupid idiot moron TOOL fanboi does buy this package, please consider the following questions:

"Question: What are you going to do with all of our money?"

"ANSWER ME THIS FUCKSTAIN WHY YOU SO LAZY CUNT?"

"How many guitar picks does he own?"

"Do you really consider only those who are stupid enough to buy $500 worth of bullshit from you "dedicated fans"?"

"What shampoo do you use?"

"What's on the USB? Kiddy porn?"

"Have you tried not being a cunt?"

"When you jerk off, who do you think about: you, or you? And at what age?"

"What has a higher amount of rape? Africa or TOOL fan's wallets?

Two part question: "Would you be willing to give my money back?" "Because I really only wanted to throw these eggs that I so obviously have carried in here at you - not the tshirt or anything else."

"Do you still consider taking financial advantage of morons 'rape', or are you more of a purist when it comes to the definition?"

"What was easier to sell out? Allphones arena or your credibility?"
