Word is that Maynard confirmed at the book reading with Billy Howerdel that APC will be touring in May 2017, with a May 7 at the Hollywood Bowl being one of the shows.

Stay tuned for more Tool 2017 dream destroying news!

APC just hasn't been the same since Josh and Twiggy left. Nontheless, neat for those who lives in the states.

Me too. And it's not some bullshit news site, or pieced together quotes that lead to an assumption. It's straight from Maynard and Billy. Tour and more.

You know, I'd go see them if they toured here in Oz, but the last show they did (albeit a festival set mid afternoon) was pretty damn forgettable. And I agree they haven't made any worthwhile music since 13th Step.

But I'll give 'em a second chance!

I hope it is better than the last time they toured. Weak set list aside the performance I saw was eehhhhh.

And it's hilarious that May Jay has gone long periods of time of doing zero with APC and they still might beat Tool to the new album dance.

Maynard can only work with what's in front of him. Billy has had just as much time to stew on new material as A/J/D have, so if he beat them to the punch, then good on him. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure I see this as a good sign for Tool.

I'm pumped, I'll take new APC anytime....and after what Adam supposedly said in the recent VIP sessions, I honestly don't think Tool will be ready to hit the studio until at least a year from now, best case scenario. 10 years and roughly half an album completed? Wouldn't surprise me at all if we don't see it for another 3 or 4 years.

This is kind of exciting. Now that they got the long-delayed eMOTIVe tour out of the way, they can bury those songs and never play them again. That whole tour was pretty boring.

I agree. Imagine is pretty much the worst imaginable opener imo. If I go and see a band live I expect to get the adrenaline kicking in after the first song, not suicidal thoughts. (I have not seen APC live)

It sounds like Billy has literally just been grinding away at music since before the 2010 tour and sending it to Maynard regularly. So if there is new music it'll be because of that.

I was just wondering last week if APC was going to do anything again. Good to hear!!

Good news in my opinion, really bad for my wallet. I think MJK is just trying to keep busy. He is obviously not the reason for the delay. Maybe the new APC album is already done....

Billy has confirmed it will be Jeff Friedl on drums and not Josh Freese, just in case anyone was hoping otherwise...

I mean, Josh Freese has pretty much said he's done with APC, so it's not much of a surprise...

Not a surprise at all, but I still hold out hope that one day this might happen

I was unaware of Josh not being interested. I don't really keep up with APC as much as TOOL. What's the reason behind Josh's decision?

I don't believe he's ever actually said, but I think he's just too busy with other acts.

Cool. I think Jeff is an excellent drummer, so it's all good.

Yeah he's a great drummer, that's for sure, but Josh is a notch upwards.

Funny I had been revisiting the 'by and down' splurge of APC we got a couple of years back this week and wondering if we'd ever here any more new material. I'm pretty sure back then they did say they had some songs which wasn't far off being released.

Sad though that this could be another nail in the 'tool 2017' coffin...the last? Not sure, but its shite either way.

However, 1 x Aussie AND NZ tour please. I too saw them on the last tour down under in Melbourne...all I can say is that the best part of that tour was Puscifer.

I'd say we can safely rule a line through new Tool album in 2017 at this point.
