i booked my flight off kayak.com back in January, it was still close to $500 US round-trip, but i figure its a once in a lifetime type deal, so what the hell.

a buddy from the public school system is going with me, i work in a hagwon + do some company work.  we've got two nights booked at the Makuhari Toyoko Inn, and it looks to be fully booked for the weekend, so i guess we'll be making some new friends!

I'm hagwon, too. I'm impressed that you had the foresight to organise all this back in January.

Sounds like you'll have a blast. Let us know how you go when you get back. Working Monday?

I wouldn't go to Japan if you paid me.

That is, unless of course.....you paid me.

Then you must hate cleanliness, politeness, and a high standard of living.

Korea is probably more your speed.

Japan is one of the places I'd like to visit before my ticket gets punched.  If I wasn't a poor student I'd have tried to make this trip.  I'll have to settle for a few days in Denver next week.

I believe seeing Asia, in general, is pretty important for a Westerner.

I agree. To a somewhat lesser extent I'd love to visit Vietnam, S. Korea, and of course, China as well.

Don't ever go to Korea. It has the most bland culture, boring and self-serving history, and the most horrible, dismal, depressed people in all of Asia.

China's not really a laugh, either, but at least it has an awesome culture and fantastic history.

Hey - has anyone else used itsjpn.com for their ticket(s)? I booked a ticket for day 2 and will be flying in on Friday - they (ITS) said they have a booth at the venue for pick ups. It all seems legit, but not having a physical ticket (yet) leaves me wondering if anyone coming from outside JPN has used them also?

Cheers.

it's the only service that can be used for overseas customers.  don't worry dude, your tickets will be there! just print out the email they sent you and bring a photo ID

I agree with Tony Danza about Korea, except the money is good. I am married to a Thai woman, we have one daughter who is just under 2 years old, we own a house etc in Thailand but we are here so i can work in Korea for a few years while the kid is young, take the money back to Thailand and spend it there!
since they're using slipbizkits lighting rig, I hope Maynard really belts out the 'Slipknot tee' line at full noise. Hope that's not a spoiler, if it is, stop reading at the beginning.
So was there any poster for this show?

No, i didn't see any, except the official ozzfest poster. There were some t- shirts at the merch section outside the makuhari concert hall, i'll upload the photos later. A review? Slam. An insane slam in front of the stage during the whole show.

Sober was a highlight, I've seen it live 3 other times but tonight they seemed to nail it. Missed the segues and long drawn out intros to songs because of the time constraints a festival set time presents.  Even the lead into lateralus was short. Extended stinkfist, with a few extra bars at the end, "relax, turn away and take my hand.....take my hand......take my hand" then there was an explosion of confetti to finish the showon strong set, e members of Tool have these songs down, it looks just like its their natural instinct to play those songs off aenema these days.

maynard never spoke, other than singing the songs obviously, but he actually stuck around at the end of the set rather than disappearing immediately. He took a picture with his phone and flashed a peace sign for the crowd, retreated off stage with the rest of the band.

good show, once again. Tool rocks your ass.period.

Intermission after Lateralus (I presume no?) and if so, was there a Danny electronic segue/Drum solo leading into Jambi?

I will mull over this alarming fact this afternoon when I order my usual vanilla latte and frosted apple slice.

This is funny. Aaah Melbourne!

Be sure not to forget your designer man-scarfe at the boutique caffe, before heading to your bi-weekly appointment with the hair stylist.

Btw, Steel Panther is pretty fantastic. Ridiculous, but true show men, all in good fun in the name of rock n' roll!
