Pretty bummed I'll just miss them ... I fly back to Oz from B-lo the day before they hit Syracuse, granted I'll have pretty solid schedule while back and would be unlikely to make it to a gig anyhow ... On the bright side, they intend to hit Oz soon, so unless I move to Adelaide in the next six months or so, my chances are pretty good at catching them in the near future.

Ouch. That wasn't nice.

They killed it at Cinquanta last year. Riot Fest was ok but it was cold, rainy and miserable so I'm looking forward to seeing a proper headlining show with new material.

Sometimes the truth hurts

but staying on topic, I'm looking forward to there new record ... personally, apart from FNM, there's probably not another band I'd have preferred to see reunite

looks like a couple of those dates are with Jane's Addiction, which as long as they stick to old material would be interesting to see as well.

EW is streaming the new album here: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/18/st ... -a-monster

Just finishing up my first listen: it's dense.

I'm enjoying "Hot Traveler" and "Mulholland Drive" even more in the context of the whole album.

The version of "The Focus" on the album is different than the one they previously released (https://failureband.bandcamp.com/track/the-focus). After a few listens I definitely prefer the updated version.

*edit*

And now having listened to the album a few times, I think it's good. Not great, but good.

Stand out tracks are "Snow Angel," "Counterfeit Sky," "Come Crashing," and "I Can See Houses."

AJ from Soundwave tweeted a couple of things about Failure this afternoon, so I'd say you can pretty much lock them into Soundwave 2016.

Failure are the lite beer equivalent of Stone Temple Pilots.

And I hate lite beer. AND Stone Temple Pilots.

They're really nothing like Stone Temple Pilots. I doubt you even listened to it. Let's keep the trolling for other threads please.

I saw Failure perform in store at Amoeba Records in Hollywood tonight. They were incredible, and now I'm hoping they play a full show somewhere nearby.

This was the first time I've ever seen them live and even though I think "Fantastic Planet" is great, I wasn't really interested in checking them out before. That's definitely changed after tonight, and I won't skip a chance to see them again now.

They played: Hot Traveller, A.M. Amnesia, Smoking Umbrellas, Otherwhere, Another Space Song, and Screen Man.

If you like their tunes and have a chance to see them, don't hesitate to do so.

I love the new album! My favorite track is 'Petting the Carpet.' I'll be seeing these guys in August. Tickets for the show are $18. It's like a sore peter, you can't beat it!

Yeah. Petting the Carpet is my favorite as well. It has that Smoking Umbrellas feel to it. I got to catch them live last summer and they sounded fantastic.

I was just doing some research and it appears that Petting the Carpet was actually a Comfort outtake. That makes sense as it definitely has that 90s feel to it.

After giving this record a few more listens, I've concluded that it's the best album I have heard this year. I give it a solid 9, just below Fantastic Planet.

I agree with all of this

A "reunion" album that sounds like they'd never gone away so much as they were before their time by a long shot.

They should be proud of this record and are deserving of all of the hype.

What the?!?

In all seriousness.....I mean, really?!? Such high praise for something so....BLAND and pedestrian. I don't understand the positive vibe these guys are generating here. Having listened all the way through TWICE, to make certain I'm not just being a negative, closed minded stick in the mud....I'd say it's like getting excited over coffee cake or brown suede.
You guys are head scratchingly frustrating when it comes to stuff like this.
Anyway, back to my snooker game....

I can't take you serious after comparing Failure to Stone Temple Pilots. Stick to snooker.

Here's a hint: they're both bland, predictable and formulaic - mildly edgy adult contemporary rock.

Better?
