That wall of death was shittier than the Adelaide one.  I love Sick of It All though - great live band.  They claimed to have invented that particular moshpit exercise.  Not sure how accurate that is though.

Do people our age still go to major festivals like this? I'm not trying to be snarky, I genuinely have no idea.

I'm not sure if I have it in me to be surrounded by a bunch of teenagers watching bands that I'm interested in past their prime.

Seem to be plenty of 30 year olds at past festivals.

Age doesn't bother me in the slightest. If I think it's something I will like, then I give zero fucks about the demographics of the crowd.

I know a lot that do, but it's not for me personally.

Harvest is way better at thinning out the dickheads, you might want to go to that, what with Massive Attack headlining.

Seeing as I've always wanted to check out Perth & got a good mate that grew up there that's going, I'll probably end up heading over there for it. Baroness & Living Colour are by far the most I'd be keen to see, Volbeat are great fun live I'm told too..

Harvest is meant to be the tits & would love to and check out Massive attack & primus but funds won't allow it at moment. And to answer ya question, Boss, sadly I still attend these festivals fairly regularly, but when ya factor in flights, accommodation, booze, drugs, food etc from Cairns, it makes far more sense to do this, that to fly down to every sideshow of bands i dig. This is pretty much my annual international live music fix & then fly down for when it's a band I particularly love for their own sideshow.

That makes total sense. Again, I wasn't meaning to sound snarky - I just genuinely didn't know if "oldies" still went to festivals.

I've been out of the loop for waaaaay too long. I need to reconnect with Western lifestyle and culture. I know that sounds weird, but if you've ever spent a large amount of time in a completely different culture, you'd get what I mean.

Hope I don't get reverse culture-shock again in October. :?

I'm going to look up this Harvest thing. It's in Melbourne (I think) the week after I finish my degree. It might be a good chance for me to figure out if I can start a life in Melbourne.

All good bro, wasn't the least bit offended.

Might have to look at the funds, coz I'm pretty bloody keen to check out Harvest too after all the good things over heard about it.

Just had a look at the lineup before, and honestly, besides the obvious and GOLDFRAPP, I'm not particularly interested.

But just going to a festival like that in the first place should be enough for me.

If Harvest were in Adelaide I'd be there for sure. I'm looking forward to them announcing some sideshows - word is at least Primus will get an Adelaide show.

As far as Soundwave goes, I heard Entombed, Soil and Hellyeah are also to be added (Megadeth seem to think they will be on the metal stage with them). Entombed are pretty good, so I'm happy with that arrangement. Hellyeah were a little boring last time, and I've never heard of soil.

The more I think about it, the more likely I am to go. I'm quite keen for:
  • Living Colour
  • Clutch
  • Baroness
  • Trash Talk
  • Whitechapel
  • Down
  • Entombed
  • Alice In Chains
Living Colour I'd probably travel to see if they toured and didn't play Adelaide, so with the other bands combined (and hopefully a few more good additions on the second announcement) it's looking like it should be value for money, despite being pretty light on in the headliner department.

Hellyeah and Down. Maybe Vinnie Paul and Phil Anselmo can get an MMA bout on one of the side shows.

Actually now that I thought that, it could be the headliner.

Wrong vibe = timing or pay wasn't right. (most likely the latter)

NIN's been doing the festival circuit this summer with all types of acts included in the line ups.

If the pay is right and he got the time slot he wants, that festival wouldn't be an issue. Anyways they aren't there and line up has been announced, so moving on now.

Stone Temple Pilots are playing Adelaide

the new tune with Chester...the lyrics seem directed right at Scott.
Longing is the animal inside you when you bleed
Suffering is critical in finding what you need
Deliverance is evidence there's more than what you say
Pain is there the moment that you wake up from your dreams

Oh, I know you can't hide
Oh, when you look inside yourself
You've got to cross that line
Yeah, you're running out of time

Loneliness is beautiful, it leads you home again
Happiness is overrated, joy is infinite
Liberate the hate you feel before it's permanent
Smile when it hurts, it works like mother's medicine

Oh, I know you can't hide
Oh, when you look inside yourself
you've got to cross that line
Yeah, you're running out of time

You've got to learn your lesson to see what you've been missing
You've got to cross that line

Yeah, you've got to look inside
Yeah, it's time that you decide
Yeah, you've got to cross that line
Yeah, you're running out of time
