News around Soundwave was that John Stanier will be playing with the Mark of Cain next week. Allegedly that came from Stanier himself. Â

My guess - Stanier will play the gigs next weekend (Adelaide & Golden Plains) and the the replacement drummer will play for the rest of the tour.

Mudhoney have a new album out in April:

Sub Pop iconsÂ MudhoneyÂ will releaseÂ Vanishing Point, their ninth proper studio record and first since 2008â€™sÂ The Lucky Ones, on April 2nd.

If youâ€™re into the whole pre-order thing, you can currently throw some money down on your copy over atÂ Sub Popâ€™s site, which says the following about the album:

â€œVanishing Point is filled with dread, psychoanalysis and Nuggets-on-fire riffs; the sort of real, uninhibited rock music that is harder and harder to locate these days.â€

There's more details and some videos here that I can't see due to work limitations. Â Mudhoney seem to release consistently good albums, so I'm looking forward to this, as well as hopefully a decent tour.

Subrosa is excited to be releasing a new album ... *some*time this summer. It is the result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Stay tuned.

Songs for the new albumÂ are progressing better than previously imagined,Â and a first day of recording is set: March 8.Â We're very excited.

â€œWe started throwing around ideas and waited until the songs started taking some kind of form before we attempted to give the album a name. This time, the form they were taking was strongly drawing on a blues influence, that Delta blues thing, sort of crawling and a bit sleazy, a bit dirty,â€ explains Gahan.

â€œI donâ€™t want to claim weâ€™re making a blues album,â€ counters Gore. â€œItâ€™s our version of the blues. Weâ€™ve been working in our style of blues for quite a long time now. If you go back to Violator thereâ€™s quite a lot of songs on there that are very bluesy, and Songs of Faith and Devotion and Ultra as well. I think weâ€™re just embracing that now and making it more obvious in the title.

â€œAs for the name, I like the idea of nature with machines. The organic with inorganic,â€ says Gore. But then he was Depecheâ€™s first synth player, and tends to get sentimental about technology.

â€œThe blues influences are definitely there,â€ says Gahan. "What connects all the songs is theyâ€™re crying out for help. Thatâ€™s part of the blues as well. Itâ€™s kind of whining about your woes but somehow through the music you are redeemed."

â€œThe machine part of Delta Machine is what we do, how we create this, how we use machines,â€ continues Gahan. â€œWe try and give the elements of songs and songwriting that come from the blues and mess it up. Led Zeppelin took the blues and turned it up, the Stones just made it cooler, and I think that we did our best to fuck it right up and take it into a difficult direction."

@ Ziggy - you are always there with the random music news dude. Â And you always go the extra mile with links, pics, vids, etc. Â Keep up the good work. Â I, for one, appreciate your efforts.

Re: New Sab - I like the idea of getting back to "raw Sabbath" but those snips did not sound good to my ear. Â Still, pretty interested in seeing how this goes and what comes of them working with Rubin. Â I think its complete bullshit they didn't work out what ever was going down with Bill... not that I don't think Brad will do a good job, and even bring something new to the table... it's just that if you've got an iconic band like Sabbath, with all the original members still ALIVE and making music... it's a travesty to not bring them back together for a project like this. Â It will likely be the last opportunity given the circumstances.
