MACHINES OF LOVING GRACE. Been a huge fan since I was sixteen.

THROWING MUSES.

Anything that sounds hippy-ish.

@ Doors - Why not just listen to the source (Gabriel era Genesis)?

The problem with Cat Power is that too many people listen to it.

You have a point but I like their synths more.
I think Marillion at the time was a modern version of Genesis and they still produced quality albums -'Misplaced Childhood' is easily in the top 10 of prog rock albums of all time.

If we all listened to "the source" we would forget about Tool and listen to King Crimson. Each generation adds to the flavour.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

Checking them out now: they have a minimalistic approach. I like.

To be honest, my comment was kind of a slam on Marillion which I view as a pale shadow of Genesis (clearly not later Genesis, much of which is quite weak). It's not that I hate everything Marillion put out, but there are relatively few standout tracks in comparison to Gabriel era Genesis. Clearly, that's my opinion, but I am not alone.

Regarding a Tool/KC comparison... that's not Apples to Apples. I don't buy Marillion as an "evolution" from Genesis, see above. They were highly derivative. I know you're a fan, and I'm really not trying to shit on the band, but that's my view.
