^ Good to hear that. Even though you don't know any of those fuckers personally, one would like to think that people who make music you dig are also decent people.

BUZZ OSBORNE ON MODERN MUSIC: “I MIGHT AS WELL BE LISTENING TO THE SINK DRIP”

In an interview with Noisey, Buzz Osborne of the Melvins talked about, among other things, the state of modern music.

“Musically, I mean the music is just nothing. There’s nothing there at all. ” Buzz said, “I might as well be listening to the sink drip. Really, it’d be more entertaining. And as far as the rest of it goes, nobody’s fooled by it. There’s no singing or music going on there. That’s clearly obvious. Even rock bands now, I would say a large percentage don’t even play live. So that’s how far down on the scale we’ve come. Now you have to give credit when people actually play. That’s fucked up.”

In the interview, Buzz also went on to praise Nine Inch Nails, and their 1994 album, The Downward Spiral, stating that they are his “guilty pleasure.”

I wonder if that's recent thing. I'm pretty sure I read an interview not too long ago where he seemed pretty apathetic about NIN.

That's probably why it's a guilty pleasure.

I had seen the NIN video they had out then that looked like a total burn of a Joel-Peter Witkin photo. The video was OK, I guess, and surprisingly enough the chorus to this baby rocker hit was “I want to fuck you like an animal,” which I couldn’t get my head around because the music that goes along with this “fuck-you-like-an-animal” sex boast sounds like weak, elevator music synth crap and would by no means lead you to believe the singer is capable of doing anything “like an animal.” I suppose he could get fucked like an animal, but that’s not what he’s saying.

I suppose he could be writing in the “third person,” but I ain’t buying that either.

Tres Cabrones is pretty good. Probably better than anything they've done since A Senile Animal.

It's always a little nerve-wracking when you listen to a new album from a band you absolutely love. I can honestly say that yet again, I have been blown away by a MELVINS offering. It's almost as though they CAN'T suck. Like, they are completely unable to.

Fuck Dale can play a mean bass, too.
O love will you read the letters I will send to you.

Hostile Ambient Takeover was the last essential one, imo.

But I will check out this new offering.....

Melvins' Buzz Osborne: Tonal Triage

The Melvins are not a joke. Don’t be fooled by frontman/guitarist Roger “Buzz” Osborne’s graying Sideshow Bob hairdo. Don’t dismiss the quirkiness of originals with titles like “Sky Pup” and “Rat Faced Granny,” or their haunting cover of Paul McCartney’s “Let Me Roll It” from last year’s Freak Puke, or the new Melvin-ized version of the traditional tune “You’re in the Army Now” off their brand-new album, Tres Cabrones.

Don't know if that's the word I'd use to describe that song.
