Album of the Week - Pimpslap the Atmosphere - Self-titled EP

Post by petemasterpete »

Doing this from nexus so hopefully it works ... Will reattempt later if it doesn't

Found this band in like 94 or 95 after a mate saw them with Ozzy in Florida ... They are at least in part a Buffalo band and I later caught them opening for Cannibal Corpse... They never released anything else to my knowledge, although some members formed Define Divine who reworked some of these tracks ... I never took too much interest in that but this record always sticks around. just came across this playlist not to long ago when attempting to post these tunes cause they weren't on YouTube for years

I'm not Jesus, but I walk on waves:

Aaaaaaaaaaand thank fuck that is over.

No matter how horrible I will make a point of listening to an entire album.

That said, this is uninspired and generic early 90's alt rock, I doubt even my 14yr old self would have thought this was cool.

2/10

RIP - Mr Fluffies - 2008 - 2013.

My cat just committed ritual seppuku in front of me to escape the torture that was Temporary Insanity "Alive, alive, alive...." meeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooow.......

Following the stellar example of Tyson, I will attempt to get through the rest of this, but Jeebus give me strength....

I was ready to press stop halfway through the first track, now I know how people put up with me.

It was pretty awful, mostly due to the vocals. With a better vocalist, I'm not sure I'd listen again, but at least I wouldn't be feeling like I need an ear douche.

Sorry Pete.

Well, I didn't completely hate the actual music, though it was very generic sounding. The singer is awful, someone tell him I hate him. Pretty much the only cool thing about this pick is that if you would've given me a billion guesses, I never would've predicted this.

2/10 :(

Mate, I've made it to 4/7, and going to have to call it quits. Not for me. 2/10

Anyone else get a bizarre PLACEBO crossed with PEACH vibe from this, by the way?

Also is this the first album you've reviewed in the second round?

Yeah. Got a bit of a backlog.

It's not laziness - I just want to give each album the attention it deserves; and believe it or not, setting aside time to properly listen to an album gets a bit rough.

Still interested in yours. I'm familiar with BT, and have yet to hear anything from them that I don't like.

Jesus fucking Christ, Tyson, do I have to rationalise, explain, and make excuses for everything that I say and do to you?

Totally not going to listen to your choice now. And yes, I said "them". I made a mistake. Sorry for not being up-to-date on the hip and happening players of every fucking genre of music in the world.

Not bored and I'm surprised you've heard of BT, as he's a popular trance artist, very, very poppy

He was the one who shot N'Sync to stardom

Review:
While there are a handful of interesting moments musically, overall the compositions sound very underdeveloped. The production is poor and the vocalist is horrible. Props tho for trying something different.

I got a bit of a Sunk Loto type vibe from this EP. I didn't particularly like Sunk Loto back then, so I found this pretty damn mediocre. Thankfully you recieved some scathing reviews from everyone so my expectation going in was very low. Mogs right that it sounds under produced & is let down by dodgy quality recording & I can understand you'd have nostalgia toward this album seeing as you saw em live back in the day, so I'll give some lee way there. Plus it'd be highly hypocritical of me to give ya shit for supporting mediocre bands & their shitty EP's. :P

The intent wasn't really to give greatness on this one, but more related to giving you fellas of overwhelmingly impeccable taste something there was little to no chance anyone here had heard ... By bad luck alone, there was already playlist and I'm on vacation (double-whammy of sorts). I entirely agree with Mog's assessment ... He hit it spot on my thoughts from a music/production standpoint (fuck me, Mog is right)
