New and Improved AOTW - Expressions of Interest

In the interest of reinvigorating this great concept, I propose we go back to the list-based idea. Furthermore, because we have a lot of members, we'll be doing TWO albums of the week.

Hopefully this way we can make it a bit of a competition, and foster a little more feedback than we usually do. Perhaps at the end of the list we could even vote on who chose the best album?

Please leave a post in this thread if you'd like to be a part of this. Also, if you absolutely must have a certain position on the list, let me know. I'll be assigning everyone a number, then randomising them to come up with a list.

There's no huge rush, so let's call this on the weekend, to be ready to launch early next week. All feedback is welcome.

NOTE: This has nothing to do with the Classic AOTW. As far as I'm concerned, that's a fairly lame idea, and I have nothing to do with it.

My theory was because people were getting bored of waiting for their turn. Seriously, we had some people waiting twenty weeks for their turn. How motivated would you be to listen to and comment on other people's picks if you knew no one was going to listen to yours for over three months?

This way, we can cut the waiting time by half, as well as inject some friend banter into the idea. I think maybe even a poll at the end of the list and a prize for the best pick might be a good idea.

If anyone wants to go back to the one album a week for twenty weeks idea, that's fine too.

That wasn't really a problem anymore though. Before Mog posted two yesterday there hadn't been one posted in weeks.

I was actually in it to hear other peoples picks not get mine in front of everyone. I thought that was the point. Yeah it's great to get your turn and all but hearing new music kept me plenty motivated to listen and rate almost all of the AOTWs. No one else even came close to listening to and commenting on all of them. The more recent ones I have slacked off a bit on but I'll get there.

I think you'll be hard pressed to get people to listen to two albums in a week when one couldn't even be handled.

That being said, I like the head to head format and grand champion ideas you have suggested. I was kinda hoping that something like that, grand champion thing, would have happened with the original AOTW, which is why I made this thread that no one participated in... Round 1 recap

Anyway, I'm game to give it a go and see what happens.

You and Tyson may be right, but I have a feeling that the slightly competitive aspect might make this work. I won't be surprised if it doesn't though.

I think by making it more likely for everyone to be heard in a shorter amount of time, we'll all be more likely to be a bit more proactive about commenting and reviewing this time 'round. The competitive aspect will also encourage people to comment and point out why they like one over the other:

I liked Mog's pick better because ISIS own, and I haven't even heard the band Tyson picked, and it sucked anyway because it was hip hop and I hate hip hop.

As it stands, we already have five weeks of one album or two weeks of two. I'd like to see fifteen to twenty participants.

BJ's idea is criminally underrated. Toward the end of each week, I'll make a simple poll where members can vote for their preferred album for that week.

I'll throw it all together after the tenth week, and we should have a winner. Whether or not they win anything is up to Hellboy.

I think we need some clarification on the new AOTW process... Tyson seems to think that on his turn, he'll submit TWO at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong *mate*

But Crow seems to be suggesting that 2 of us will go head to head with ONE pick each per week.

I thought that was obvious. Why would people be submitting TWO albums? Where's the competition in that?

For example: When it is our turn, Tyson will pick a NICKELBACK album, and I will pick a SOUNDGARDEN album. Everyone will listen to both, then comment on how Tyson's pick sucked donkey balls, and mine rocked. A poll will be conducted at the end of the week, I will win, and my pick will be judged along with others at the end of the season to see who had the best album. Tyson will cry in foetal position for a solid two weeks, and the world will experience peace and happiness for a short time.
