I've never listened to a Deep Purple album the whole way through to be honest. Machine Head are alright though...

Caught them live in Flint Mi. some time ago.
I am pretty sure Ian Gilliam was trashed because
he would intro every song with something along the lines of,
"We wrote this next one about a girl back in so and so year when she was under the paino/under the table/etc. . ."
Pretty hilarious actually...he kept coming up with different scenarios for every song.

I think this is a classic case of a decent band punching way above their weight. Good album.
