Album of the Month format discussion

I was thinking about the Listeners Club today, and have a new format to suggest (this could run in conjuntion with the existing neglected format).

The idea is to have an Album of the Month thread and Poll. It would go something like this:
  1. Fourtheye readers can suggest on album each that they feel is the best album they listened to that month.
  2. Where possible a nomination should come with some form of stream for the album. Bandcamp is nice, but any format is fine.
  3. Each nomination should come with a review. Preferably more than on sentence for you barely literate fucks out there.
  4. Albums preferably should be new release albums, though don't necessarily need be released in that month. A "new release" could be deemed as something released in the last 6 months.
  5. Once an album is nominated, it may not be nominated again.
  6. There will be a "Best Albums of XXX Nominations" Thread in which nominations, reviews and other discussion can go in. This thread will be made at the beginning of each month.
  7. At the end of the month, I will compile the nominations and create another thread with a poll. This will stay open for a week or so.
  8. Whoever wins the poll will get a forum badge or some shit.
Discussion and suggestions on the rules above are welcome.

Sounds interesting. Is there going to be a limit on the amount of albums a person can nominate?

My first thought was to leave it at one per person, but I'm open to multiple nominations if people prefer. I know I personally could nominate more than one most months, but at the same time would like to encourage most than the same 3 people nominating a whole bunch of stuff each month.

Alternatively we could have something like where you only get one nomination for most of the month, and then say in the final couple of days you can make a second (or more) nominations for stuff you feel has been missed.

It's a tough one, I don't want to overly complicate the process, but I would like people to have to think strongly about what they nominate, rather than any old album getting submitted.

Any further feedback? I'm going to start this one June 1.

Discussion on how many albums a person can nominate is the main area I'd like to see discussion on.

Confusing and lacks support, it's never going to work.

Evidence - look at the top 2013 albums poll and the fact the listeners club failed anyway.

Well, we might try it despite your doubts. No ventured, nothing gained.

I feel the 6 month rule should be enforced, makes sure we are actually listening to new music.

I agree. I'd only let that rule slide under certain circumstances involving bribery.

I hope this doesn't end up being a popularity contest.

Yeah it wouldn't be all that much fun if I won every month.

That's my point, I'd vote for your pick every time as I'm SURE you would too.

Well, a poll is a popularity contest, so there's no getting around that.

I mean as in voting for the poster and not for the album.

YEah, I know what you mean. Thankfully the most popular guy here (me) has the best taste in music, so it shouldn't be a problem...

That's why I'm not even going to bother, mate.

Nor should Mog.

Hellboi, you're alright, mate, but this was never going to have my support.

You still butthurt that people choose my album over yours?

Mine was better, it was as simple as that.

Moved a whole bunch of posts in here. I'd like the nominations thread to stay somewhat on topic - just nominations and discussion of them.

No argument here.

I just don't think this is a good idea. Though I dig Bellend for asking us all for our input.
