When you say cell phone photos do you mean he was taking pictures with the fans?
Yes he took pictures with every VIP, but with a cell phone camera only. Juan was the cameraman.

Yeah, more specifically it was a one-shot only deal so if your picture sucked that's what you were stuck with. If you don't have a camera phone than no picture for you unless you've got a buddy with one that you can use.

Sweet, I hope he does that in Cedar Park. Do you know about how many VIPs there were?

Heres a good video of the new schism intro jam, at 13:45. SOunds cool. Everything im hearing out of these new jams really resemble Wings, in my opinion.

If it was you who did so... thanks for recording that! This preview of new material sounds very promising. It's in 13/8... Danny mentioned one of the new songs they were working on was in 13, in that Vic Firth interview ( from a while back. This is likely it. First part is in 13, the second part is in 7.

Adam stated in the Spokane VIP that Wings was his favorite Tool song to play. Wouldn't be surprised if they explore that direction a bit more.

Sorry, that new piece isn''t in 13... it's in 14 lol. I'm dumb. It's hard to count, because Justin's bassline is really syncopated and maybe overlapping on a bar. First part is in 14/8, second part is 7/8. It's sick, really good shit.

All they're doing is playing and tweaking with old material.
Nothing new to see here.
People really have a hard on for any different note they hear at these shows.

I think that was my biggest complaint with the last album. Too much resembling previously constructed songs. I really hope this jam that sounds like Wings does not make it onto the next album. It would not surprise me at all if it did though.

That's what you would think... but it's new stuff. I agree with Bill. Just listen to 10,000 Days... there's recycled riffs all over that album. Stuff that sounds similar to riffs going as far back as Undertow.

Why doesn't some one just straight up ask Adam at a Q&A if these segues are new material for the album or arnt they?

If you watch 2002 footage for long beach arena (last show of the tour) they play a bit of wings/10k days before lateralus, i remember hearing this back then and thinking it was new material and also there is a badass extension to parabola they did also

You guys realize that Tool has always, always mostly written in the same scale with the same small handful of notes, right? They've always had a similar sound, shockingly, like a lot of bands. I mean I understand the opinions and all of that, it just seems a little... "narrow?" If you've been on board this far, it's hard to imagine all the sudden being like "the fuuuuuuuuuck this sounds sort of kind of like the other songs!"

Yup. I agree to the above...but I think part of people refusing to admit these jams are new stuff, is that hardcore fans might be underwhelmed by it and then don't want to own up to that fact. So they're like "no no guys this isn't the real new stuff!" just like the decoy album theory with 10,000 Days. They were underwhelmed and then felt the need to compensate somehow.

there's no excuse for that ... granted, Tool, with all of their awesome marketing tactics, is quickly becoming their 'relevant' replacement ... you just wait for the pez dispensers, pinball machines and coffins ... believe me, they're coming ... likely just following the pot video and the $200, 23 and a half year anniversary release of undertow
