Fucking Wo . . . llongong.
I'm about to do this on Facebook, but here we go:

My teams:

AUSTRALIA
ENGLAND
USA
THE NEXT BEST AFRICAN TEAM
THE MOST UNLIKELY EURO TEAM (BELGIUM)
BRASIL

That's how my football allegiance goes. I'd explain it, but I doubt anyone would read it.

French Speakers Special - France, Belgium, Switzerland, Cameroon or Ivory Coast Lift The Trophy @ 9.50

That's worth a sneaky $20

Côte d'Ivoire are always the best chance from Africa. Then again, Cameroon? Fuck.

I won't call you dumb for that bet, mate.

My newy boy has a sneaky twenty on Belgium winning the Cup. Can't fault him for that, either.

90 minutes: 90 feelings.

Taggart.

If Ange doesn't fuck this up, mark my words: There's a possibility he will be our first mega-star of football. Up there with your Ronaldhinos and Beckhams.

If you've seen what I've seen, and weighed up the odds, you'd agree. The kid has "star" written all over his strangely attractive face.

I'm the most vocal here, but yeah, mine too.

(I'm working on self-publishing a book of poetry as we speak. Get busy tryin', before ya get busy dyin', amirite.)

Dude, an idiot wouldn't take those odds. If I win, that's half my rent for a week. In one fucking game.

Not to mention the feeling of awesomeness from having watched the Socceroos actually win something for once. And no, I don't count Canada.

Australia has a good track record against the Dutch (never lost), so there is a chance there. And they can beat Spain. Yes, they can.

Anyone can have their day on the field. History is full of surprise upsets.

What I find troubling is the fact that Ange seems to be looking at the Asian Cup, and using the World Cup as a trial run. Indeed, most fans on the Facebook page seem to think that too. It's replete with comments like, "You've made it to the World Cup - you're already winners, boys!" and "Win or lose, we'll still support you!"

You can't be talking like that in an international tournament. We need hunger and drive, and Cahill and Taggart seem to be the only ones who have those two key elements.

I don't know what everyone's idiot favourite player Jedinak is thinking ("I'm going to score another own goal because I'm a fucking toothbrush - durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!") but I've yet to see that same passion from anyone else in the team.

We need wins against Chile and the Dutch, it's that simple. We fuck up Saturday (my time), we've lost it. A draw is not an option. We NEED that win.

I doubt there's a player or coach in the World Cup who isn't planning to win every game they play in the coming weeks. For all the talk of Asian (and other cups), I doubt any professional athlete is looking much further ahead than they normally would. Fans can be dumb sometimes.

OK, assholes, less than nine hours until kickoff.
Overall, I got a gut feeling about Belgium.
purely gut though.
I can't make any rash decisions in the Group Stage.

Game One: Host country Brazil vs. Croatia.

As much as I'd like to take the upset here
I don't see it happening;
The country would probably implode.

FINAL SCORE

2-0

omfg, Imagine if the pressure is to high, Neymar squanders chance after chance. And a long free kick from Modric is headed into the net by Mandzukic.
But, yes, a 2-0 is very likely, yet Croatie is pretty good and capable of a suprise.

Wish i could watch the opener live. Game starts at 3:00, and i wont make it home until 5 to watch it on replay. It's pretty awesome that every game is going to be on Xbox Live, live and available for playback later.

Brazil is going to win the whole damn thing.

Belgium is a good sleeper pick though. Excellent team. Spain is Spain. France is better than expected even without Ribery. The Dutch always have a good team. Portugal could make a deep run but that depends entirely on Ronaldo's health. He is not 100% with his leg injury. Still, Ronaldo even at 80% is better than most of the rest of the world. Germany is solid as always. Argentina will under-perform as usual. Uruguay are strong with Saurez being on such great form this season, although he did just come off a minor knee surgery.

Let the world's greatest sporting event begin!

For someone who NEVER sleeps, I somehow managed to doze completely through this game.

Not a huge deal, as I was planning on watching entire matches again the next day. And it's not like Brazil winning was a shock.

I'll tear my testicles off and throw them at the nearest Maori if I miss the Australian game tomorrow. There's talk of going to the girl's parent's place after breakfast to watch the game on their huge TV in high def crystal clear brilliance, rather than using my laptop . . .
O love will you read the letters I will send to you.
