Just stop now and grab greta van fleet stat.
Has Tool ever been on SNL?
Didn't think so, you just got TYSOWNED
Lol that Greta guy looks so ridiculous with those try-hard 70s retro threads. He looks like an actual Hobbit, which would not matter so much if there music was good, but just adds to the cringe-factor even more. That SNL performance was so embarrassing too, just like the rest of their existence. People act like they are the renaissance of rock and roll, but they suck.
Imagine if Tool did perform on SNL at any point in their career, which would never happen, but it would be incredible. Would probably get banned anyway like Rage's performance was.

I'm worried the 18 minute song will be shit and a large part of the album wasted. That's the kind of negative hype people need to be getting on board with.
Their track record on long songs is flawless, so I have no such concerns
If I remember correctly, Adam mentioned that Descending was a preview of sorts of what was then a 14 minute song. That was in 2015, I think.

Yeah, I don't know about that...
Why not? They're one of the most popular bands in the world. No doubt there would be plenty of logistical issues, song length included, nor would I expect the band be interested, but those aside, I can't see why SNL wouldn't want them on the show.

You should look over the list of acts they've had on over the last decade and then tell me if you think would really fit in on that list...

SNL try to book "hip" acts; Tool are not "hip", they are very niche. When SNL doesn't book a "hot" artist they'll look for a legacy act with enough mainstream approval to be uncontroversial, i.e. Paul Simon or U2. Tool do not have that mainstream approval. Too alternative; too outsider.

Maynard should host with tool in the promo vids but then have the musical act be puscifer
Comment of the year! This is the most likely scenario. Studio 8H would literally melt if Tool brought the business. It is a perfect venue for puscifer though. Let carina do her thing. She is amazing. MJK as host would be great, but I think he would choke Pete Davidson out if he broke during a scene. Maynard would be great as the substitute teacher bit they have been running.

Tool are not "hip",
Completely agree. If you note the knuckle-dragger bands that they are generally forced to play alongside at festivals, this should be very clear. It is embarrassing how uncool Tool is, and I generally shy away from telling people I'm a Tool fan unless they profess their admiration first.
