Yeah one day these bozos will get their noggins around the fact that Adelaide is less than half to less than one quarter the size of the East Coast cities. Per capita our gig attendance is solid and we have to contend with shitty weekday events more often than our eastern counterparts when the acts do come here.

The gig attendance of HB and myself is nothing short of a stellar effort!

So standing up and taking a bow Busty cheers for the call out!

Shows sell just fine in Adelaide. If you're business model can't cope without shows selling out in 5 minutes, then you're doing it wrong. Bump the ticket prices up $10 for Adelaide shows if it makes a difference. You can't expect people to go to shows that they have no interest in, and I doubt many skip shows just for the sake of it, so it's a really redundant argument.

Got the email a couple days ago. They say “World Tour” 2020. Hope it includes US but I doubt it. That was an excellent album. I know every note.

I’m sure HB can’t wait.

It's a tough one - there's a crazy amount of shows on in April and May. I can almost hear the promoter tears right now "no one ever goes to shows in Adelaide". The reality is we do, but when you put them all on in the same two months, most can't afford the time or money.

Still, Dream Theatre blow, so I won't lose much sleep over that!

And I guess that's where the core of the problem lies, which I assume comes to down population size ? I can't imagine Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne have these problems coz I'm assuming the population is large enough to ensure a regular flow of punters regardless of gigs on close to the date.

It's much easier for a promoter to just skip your town than delay a tour that otherwise suits all the other cities and the band.

Pearl Jam have postponed their upcoming US tour in light of the coronavirus pandemic:
As residents of the city of Seattle, we’ve been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand how quickly these disastrous situations can escalate. Our kids’ schools have closed along with universities and businesses. It’s been brutal and it’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

So we are being told that being part of large gatherings is high on the list of things to avoid as this global health crisis is now beginning to affect all of our lives.

Unfortunately, communing in large groups is a huge part of what we do as a band and the tour we’ve been busy planning for months is now in jeopardy...

We have and will always keep the safety and well-being of our supporters as top priority.

So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this most unfortunate of announcements...

This scheduled first leg of our PJ/Gigaton tour will need to be postponed and shows rescheduled for a later date.

We’ve worked hard with all our management and business associates to find other solutions or options but the levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level. Add to that we also have a unique group of passionate fans who travel far and wide. We’ve always been humbled by this and respect their energies and devotion. However in this case, travel is something to avoid.

It certainly hasn’t helped that there’s been no clear messages from our government regarding people’s safety and our ability to go to work. Having no examples of our national health department’s ability to get ahead of this, we have no reason to believe that it will be under control in the coming weeks ahead.

Again, here in Seattle what we are witnessing we would not wish for anyone. What we do wish for the rest of the country is that they can avoid the harsh negative effects of this and retain their sense of community and take care of one another. Just as we look forward to our next concerts and the ability to gather together and play loud songs as energized as ever.

We are so sorry…

And deeply upset...

If anyone out there feels the same based on this news, we share that emotion with you.

I wonder if this will set a precedent in regards to other tours. I certainly wouldn't be confident at this stage that big tours (including Tool) in the coming months will go ahead.

Unfortunately I have to agree.

Please use your influence to have Tool play in SF exclusively to Fourtheye members. We can each have one seat in the middle of our own section. Works for me.
