Mammal

Post by Busty McCracken »

Surprised we don't have a Mammal thread. Was gonna just chuck this in live shows but figure they deserve their own spot, especially with new music on its way.

***Statement From Mammal re: 2022 and Beyond***

On Saturday January 29, 2022, Mammal held a telephone conference call, by the end of which Ezekiel Ox, Pete Williamson, Zane Rosanoski and Kade Turner had come to a unanimous decision to cancel all upcoming live appearances currently held by the band.

All four members agree that in the current climate of social hesitancy, reduced show capacities, logistical hardship and heightened police brutality against members of the public, Mammal is not in a position to be able to deliver and vibrate at the level their incendiary live shows have become world renowned for. There is no tension or doubt in this resolution, and the Melbourne funk/punk four-piece are certain that they have made the right decision for themselves, their fan base and the public at large.

The band is firm in their position that this is not a time for sadness, anger, division or doubt within our loyal, diverse and at times, long suffering fan base, rather a time to rejoice. As always, Mammal is a band with a plan, the resources to execute that plan and the determination to walk a different path.

Having established themselves as a politically progressive entity in 2006, Mammal have grown sick and tired of being forced into reactionary and negative patterns in this unprecedented time of social and political upheaval. To put it plainly, Mammal is embarking on a new musical journey that will be their own, and will not be beholden to government edicts that are anti-worker, pro-billionaire and ultra-nationalistic. The consensus in the group is to focus on family, renewal and of course, the music.

2022 will see Mammal creating and performing new music and visual art without the need to focus or rely on corrupt governments and inconsistent regulations. This decision has brought peace to the band in the short term, and they anticipate that their fierce and loyal fan base will benefit in the future.

In the coming months there will be the release of new music as well as a series of announcements that will lay out Mammal’s “roadmap of rock and roll” for the coming period. This plan will be developed and executed in a way that it cannot be interrupted, stunted or influenced by colonial governments or public health dilemmas.

Mammal want to be unequivocal in their respect for all other musicians and artist’s choices on how to navigate the new environment in any way they see fit, and wish their industry colleagues all the luck and good grace in the current circumstances.

The band encourage anyone with doubts or reservations to trust the path chosen, and know that great thought and passion have been deployed to get them to this point. Mammal ask that fans hold on to the fact that as soon as the band is able to play live again in the manner that they choose and that audiences deserve, they will be back on stage, and when they are, it will be on their terms, safe, joyful and free.

Mammal look forward to this next chapter in the band’s history, and want everyone to come along for the ride as it evolves.

Hell yeah!
