What are you watching? Film/TV
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I didn't mind the Matrix - kinda like the new SW movies there's some parts I think are great, some parts bland and others are big WTF moments. I think the movie started pretty well, but there were too many of those WTF moments in the final acts for it to really satisfy. I'd probably give it a 6 or 7 out of 10

Read this before watching it. Knew what was coming song wise the second I read it.
As for the movie... meh, probably better that any of the sequels but thats purely for nostalgia sake. It added absolutely nothing to the story just like the sequels. Would've been better leaving it as one standalone movie.

I mean it added plenty to the story. As did the sequels. Not sure if we saw the same thing?

Just seemed like it was purely made as a cash grab, which I guess you could argue is what most sequels are anyway. The first matrix ended well enough that all that followed were a total waste of time for me. He became the one, he contacted the machines, said shits gonna change, flies off , rage starts playing. Perfect ending to the story.

It's a meta commentary on soulless cash grabs, it beats you over the head with this point, watch it again, or don't.

Yeah I got the commentary part. Like you say, it's impossible to miss. I didn't hate the movie , just view all of the sequels much like, el Camino that followed breaking bad. Just kinda unnecessary.

I don't think the sequels are anywhere near as bad as people make them out to be frankly. But anyway, I know I'm in the minority there.
I tend to be a glass half full kinda guy, and don't let a few dodgy moments ruin a movie. Not that I think M4 is some kind of sci-fi classic either.

Really enjoyed Ghostbusters Afterlife, I know it was a full on nostalgia cash grab but I don't care.

Severance is a slow burn but worth it for the finale

I've been to the Sydney IMAX 4 times since it reopened, I don't think I can go back to the old cinema experience, it's just that good.

Megalopolis @ Imax Sydney
What can I say, where do I even start? This movie is hands down the most bizarre entertaining complete pseudo trash I have ever seen, it was fantastic. The trash CGI, the nonsensical story and characters, the shakespearean speeches, Jon Voight's boner, Shia Labeouf, the hats being thrown on the ground, Nathalie Emmanuel's repeating of lines, Shia Labeouf, split screen Saturnalia and the time baby.
A toast to movies like The Room and Leprechaun 2 but with a 100 million dollar budget.
