I was going to answer Califums post, but to be honest I can't be fuck.  I disagree with a bunch of it, but I don't imagine an argument is going to change either of our minds.  I certainly agree that the ALPs time in government has been fraught with mismanagement and other errors, but there's not a single government out there that can claim they haven't been.  I don't think their economic mismanagement has been as bad as some deem it to be.  I don't really give many fucks about internal party politics or who is knifing who.  It's laughable to believe that isn't happening in both parties.

Surely you have some concerns with how the Liberals are run as well?  Or are they the perfect angels you're painting them to be?

Wouldn't surprise me. He seems hell-bent on having a political discourse on his own, which doesn't surprise me, either.

It must also be recognised that I agree with the general consensus regarding Tony Abbott - whom I do not consider to be the best candidate for Liberal leadership.

In an ideal world Michael Kroger would be in charge:

But he is too busy making millions as an investment banker.

LOL.

I'd love for the ALP member in the NSW senate (drunk, can't remember his name) to take over the country.

The cunt with the fucking Malaysian wife. Come on. Who is he?!

Argh.

My fairly uneducated opinion on Aus politics is this:

Despite his flaws, I thought John Howard was a great PM for this country & at his core, genuinely cared about dong what he thought was best in Australia's interests. When Kevin came on the scene, I thought he was very wily with the way he got himself a spot on Sunrise morning shows, & used it as a way to charm his way into the top spot. My opinion of the bloke, was that he was more interested in being popular , than making the harsh calls that were best for Australia, a polar opposite to Howard. I feel he still has this as his driving factor.

Come the Kevin 07 campaign, I thought he'd manipulated the thoughts of the country & was never going to be a great leader for this nation. We all know what happened next & the only reason Julia won her term fair dinkum was because Liberal didn't have a leader strong enough to oppose an easy election to win.

Fast forward to the present & both parties have shit cunts as leaders & I'd rather skip my vote all together than vote for either of these useless pricks in the top jobs.

Labor are the smarmy, vindictive political party representing the AWU (Australian Workers Union) ie. The Socialist Party of Australia. Or should I say rather they are the smarmy, vindictive puppet party of the AWU. They are beloved of the left, of high brow intellectual inner city latte drinkers and pill poppers and of thuggish, objectionable trades people.

Liberals are the conservative, business minded (some may say corporate puppets) party with more "traditional" family values.

That's a load of shit and you know it. Nothing that I mentioned, was anything revolutionary. Didn't have to try very hard to come up with a dozen or so reasons why this Labor government is a complete and utter joke. If it sounds formulaic, it's probably because it's been mentioned ad nauseum. People are sick of it. Why do you think the polls were so low.

Lie, lie, lie. Policy backflips. Political assassinations. Out of control egos. Peter Garrett. Penny Wong. Where does it all end?!?!?

What this mob have done to Australia,  it's economy and it's people is a fucking nightmare.

Do you not read the papers? Watch the news? Have a clue? Have a conscience? You want your country to be run by in-fighting council workers and union representatives?

"Oh...you Liberals you're all the same. Whinge whinge whinge and no substance. You all just copy each other anyway."

What is it that I wrote that you found so hard to believe? Pray tell. I want to hear your take on this situation.

Honestly, if it wasn't so all too real it would be funny. Unfortunately, it is very real and this country is being run by a sham government with no credible understanding of policy planning. And now we have ended up with the ego maniac sheister again. Back where we started. The one with the massive head who loves the limelight but hasn't a fucking clue what he's talking again.

"Policy? Policy you say? I don't about policy but just look at all my adoring fans. They love me!! Um....Tony Abbott's going to lead us to war with Indonesia people! I'm your only chance. I'm you saviour. Your messiah. All shall love me and despair!! A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha".

The guy's a fucking psycho pretty boy- hated by those even within his own ranks. But it's ok now...he's "changed".

Hooray for Kev!

None of the labor parties policies have affected me except now I pay less tax, oh and I have a whole bunch of free health professional checks with various different doctors to help manage my type 1 diabetes.

Labor has announced its policies, they are all there in the budget, where is the Liberals alternative policies? All they do is nag, nag and some more nag, without saying what the alternatives are.

Turning back the boats is not an option.

Direct action on climate change is way too expensive.

A surplus means that the government took too much money through taxes, whereas there is nothing wrong with a modest deficit.

Of course.  I'm not sure the media is quite as scathing as your attacks are, especially the more independent media around.  No doubt Labour have made some fuckups.  I've never denied that once.

You want your country to be run by in-fighting fringe dwellars, council workers and union representatives?

No more than I want the country run by conservative religious nutjobs.

This pretty much sums up why I don't really regard your arguments.  You make this statement pretending like this is something Tony Abbott and the Libs haven't been doing for the last 6 years.

I don't buy into Rudd's spin either.  I'm not sure why you're arguing with me like I'm some kind of card waving ALP member.  I'm looking forward to seeing what policies the Libs eventually get around to releasing, and then making a decision based on who I believe has the best ones.  So far their policies have been pretty underwhelming though there's obviously a long way to go.

Personally I would have thought it would be quite hard to lead a political party if this were true.

Kevin Rudd is a conservative religious nutjob.

Honestly, the guy is filmed coming out of church every five minutes.

And during his teen years he was a leader of the Christian Youth Movement of Australia.

The guy is a preening peacock - an unemotional sociopathic narcissist.

I agree completely - Rudd is a knob.  He's not as much of a knob as Abbott though.

As Tyson says, let's discuss policy - it's far more useful.  So far we have the NBN policy, which is a joke.  What else is there?

I don't feel the NBN is a joke, it's one of the biggest infrastructure projects ever seen in Australia and will be budget neutral within 20 years, if not a lot sooner, it's going to make Australia future proof.

We would - if Labor had any policies worth debating.

All their policies amount to nothing more than hot air - under funded and prone to change at the drop of a hat.

Case in point - border protect / people smuggling.

Case in point - the federal budget.

Case in point - you name it.

You're a fucking idiot if you think the way this government has "handled" the NBN project is something to be proud of.

Over budget ($50 billion and counting)

Delays in rollout - seriously, can you even name ONE person that has been connected?!?

Union interference

Government monopoly

Spending $90 billion of taxpayers money laying fibre optic technology which will be redundant in ten years with the announcement of 4G wireless?!?

Priceless!

White Elephant? Much?

Wireless doesn't work, the network becomes overcrowded, case and point the 3G network.

I showed this to my colleagues at work 15 minutes ago and the ENTIRE office (around 30 people congregating around my computer terminal) burst into laughter. Wish I had a video so I could upload it.

"The fuck?!?!? What forum is this?!?!?"

"What a farce - just pipe dreams. That's all they are. Unfunded, unstructured...fluffy speeches and little else"

"This guy on drugs?"

"Yeah...well let them vote Rudd if that's what they want...just more work for us tax agents to handle>"

"Rudd's a fuckup and a glamour boy poster child for Generation Y. Watching tv last night and seeing some of the morons on these Aussie reality tv shows it's no wonder celebrities rather than politicians get voted in".

"fucking clueless"

"Australians get the government they deserve. that's why fuckwits like Rudd run the country"

"Not a realistic policy in sight. Just look what they've done with border control."

I mean the Liberal policy on the NBN is a joke.  The Labour plan, while not perfect, is light years ahead.

I think you should stick to commenting to areas about which you have a clue.  4G wireless is no where near fast enough to compete with fibre.  There are aspects about the plan, and the way it's being rolled out that I question, but from a technical point of view 4g wireless is unlikely to be practical for quite some time.  Not even 5G wireless will be 1/100th the speed of fibre, and that's taking out network congestion type issues.

Also, I know several people who are connected to the NBN, that's kinda irrelevant to the whole debate though.
